WarioWare: Get It Togetheris the first new game starring Wario in a while. Wario gets the shaft next to his counterpart,Mario.Nintendoseemed to have forgotten Wario was a bigger star. He still makes his way into spinoff games likeMario Golf: Super Rush, but that isn’t enough for fans out there. The last Wario Land game wasWario Land: Shake Itfor theWiiin 2008.

The lastWarioWaretitle wasWarioWare Goldin 2018 for the3DS. That was just a collection though with not much new. It’s been a while since the last fully new game,Game & Wario, which was a 2013 Wii U game. But at long last, this series has returned. WhileWarioWare: Get It Togetherisn’t blowing the world up with amazing reviews, theSwitchgame has found a fan base even with its faults.
10Best: Creating A Party
This game has Wario teaming upwith various charactersfrom theWarioWarefranchise. Every character has a different ability. Wario, for example, can fly anywhere on a stage along with ram things.
Cricket, Wario’s trusty pupil, can move anywhere on the ground freely and jump. Each stage allows players to create a party of three or four to take into battle which is a nice touch on top of the creative character abilities.
9Worst: Filler Characters
Not all playable characters were seemingly created equally. There are a few characters that are copycats but a lesser version of that original character. For example, Mike is a robot that can fly around anywhere, like Wario, and shoot in an upwards motion.
9-Volt moves with a skateboard that never stops moving which makes him harder to control. 9-Volt also shoots upward but the idea of using him over Mike is odd.
8Best: Animations
There are animated cutscenes shown throughout theWarioWare: Get It Together’scampaign. These cutscenes aren’t fully animated likefull-on anime sequences, but they look nice. They also provide some humorous background to the game which is already filled with goofy jokes.

The only problem with them is that there wasn’t enough of them and that they aren’t as high quality as they could be. They were still a joy despite that.
7Worst: Can’t Skip The Story
There is another issue related to the story which some may see as problematic. These anime-like sequences can’t be skipped. The dialogue between missions also can’t be skipped. This isn’t a huge problem as the text doesn’t take up that much time to get through.
Some gamers may not care about the story in any regard though and may just wish to play the various mini-games. It would be great if Nintendo could patch in a skip button to help those types of players out.
6Best: Nintendo Classics
The story is presented and separated into different lands found within a world map. Each land is ruled by one of Wario’s friends and they have themes to them correlating with the mini-game collections. 9-Volt‘s realm, for example, is themed around Nintendo.
Every one of these mini-games runs the gamut from old titles on theNESlikeSuper Mario Bros.tothe modern Switchage withFire Emblem: Three Houses. They are all great if not somewhat fleeting.
5Worst: Multiplayer
A big evolution for this series this time around was the inclusion of multiplayer. Players can tackle the campaignwith co-op gameplay. After that, they can unlock a multiplayer mode that supports four players.

This sounds good on paper but the problem isWarioWare: Get It Togetheris not balanced well for co-op. The mini-games become both harder and easier at the same time depending on the type of mini-game presented. The core multiplayer is also a letdown as it lacks variety.
4Best: It’s An Isekai
The premise ofWarioWare: Get It Togetheris that Wario has just finished making his new hit title. As he celebrates with his friends, the game goes haywire and sucks them all into the digital realm. This idea turns the gameinto an Isekaifor Wario and pals.
This is an anime term for someone being transported into a new world. Fans may have never thought the day would come when Isekai and Wario would be in the same sentence but it’s a fun concept.
3Worst: Not Enough Content
The biggest issue withWarioWare: Get It Togetheris that there is not enough content here. The campaign will take a couple of hours to beat. In order to see every mini-game in each land, it may take a little more than that.
There is always the idea of competing for high scores or popping this out fora co-op gamenight with friends. The lasting appeal still won’t turn this game into something gamers will want to come back to more than a handful of times.
2Best: Absurdly Weird
One of the best parts about Wario, as a character, is that he is unpredictable. He is a weird, crude dude and that’s why a certain fan base of Mario’s adores him. TheseWarioWaregames are where Wario really lets go from escaping gaps in teeth to fighting an evil alien race of noses. The absurdity in this game is top-notch even if there isn’t a lot to it.
1Worst: Teasing Rhythm Heaven
It was been forever since aWarioWaregame came out, as already mentioned. It has been even longer since a title in theRhythm Heavenseries has released. The last one wasRhythm Heaven Megamixwhich was for the 3DS in 2016.
WarioWare: Get It Togetherplays a cruel joke on players as Dr. Crygor’s land features a rhythm-looking game similar toRhythm Heavenin the intro cutscene. Unfortunately, his mini-games aren’t rhythm-based. If Wario can get this spinoff series back then there is still hope for moreRhythm Heavento also return someday.
