The anime world is a vast place, and it is filled with hundreds of unique series.A Certain Magical Indexdebuted in 2008, and it has gone on to have three seasons,a well-recieved full-length movie, and two spin-offs. The series takes place in a world where individuals called Espers possess supernatural abilities, and it follows Toma Kamijo, a student who attends Academy City.

Toma is categorized as a Levl 0 Esper because he presumably lacks a power, but his right arm actually hasthe ability to nullify other powers.The Esper level system is designed to determine how far an Esper’s powers have advanced, with Level 6 being the highest, but no one has achieved this level yet. Level 5 Espers are strong enough to face a military force by themselves, and there are currently only 7 Espers who have reached this level.
7Sogiita Gunha - Unnamed Power
Sogiita isAcademy City’s7th ranked Level 5 Esper, and he is the strongest Esper who did not gain his abilities through artificial means. No one truly understands his power, which means that he is probably much stronger. The reason why Academy City cannot comprehend his ability is because it has a variety of effects.
He possesses enhanced durability and the ability to feel very little pain. He can create walls of pressure that can hold attacks and individuals back, and he can create electricity, and explosions. He is capable of moving at twice the speed of sound, and he can recover numerous injuries with relative ease. His special move is called, Attack Crush, which is a powerful telekinetic blast.
6Aihana Etsu - Unnamed Power
Comedy can hurt an animewhen it feels out of place, but running jokes like Aihana’s identity tend to work fairly well. No one knows what Aihana looks like, in fact no one knows if they are male or female, but everyone knows that they are the 6th ranked Level 5 Esper.

Aihana’s unnamed power is not suited for direct combat, and it requires another person with a decent imagination. The ability allows Aihana to turn others into their ideal self, by granting them the power they wish for. This power is based entirely on the individual’s imagination, and although Aihana can give someone power, they cannot create it out of thin air.
5Shokuhou Misaki - Mental Out
The 5th ranked Level 5 Esper is ShokuhouMisaki, and although she is not Tokiwadai Middle School’sstudent council president, she could definitely use her power to get the position. Her power is called Mental Out, and it is derived from her ability to control the chemicals secreted by the human brain.
Mental Out gives Shokuhou a number of abilities, including mental control, telepathy, and the ability to brainwash people. She can also read people’s minds and destroy memories. She can even change a person’s personality and emotions. to make her power easier to use, Shokuhou has divided it into several preset categories.
4Mugino Shizuri - Meltdowner
Rank 4 belongs to Mugino Shizuri, and although she is not aruthless villain, she still serves as an Academy City antagonist. She is the leader of ITEM, a mercenary group that monitors Academy City and prevents higher-ups from gaining too much power. Her power is called Meltdowner, and it allows her to forcibly control electrons.

With this ability, the electrons are no longer a wave or particle, and they instead take the form of a more solid object. When she uses this ability, she fires a powerful high-speed beam of light that can melt through metal. She can also apply Meltdowner to her limbs, giving her extra movement. She can only fire at one target at a time though, and she can only shoot the beam in the direction she is facing.
3Misaka Mikoto - Railgun
One ofthe biggest Shonen troupesis having a young male lead, but there are a good number of heroines as well, including Misaka Mikoto. She is the 3rd ranked Level 5 Esper, and she is an Electromaster, which means that she can generate and manipulate electricity. She is capable of generating 1 billion volts of electricity.
Her power is called Railgun, which happens to be the name of her signature move. She uses her power to create two parallel currents of electricity on both sides of her arm, and with the help of electromagnetism, she can fire projectiles like coins at three times the speed of sound. Her power is so great that she can even summon real lighting down from the sky.
2Kakine Teitoku - Dark Matter
Kakine was the leader of SCHOOL, one of Academy City’s underground factions, and he served as an antagonist. He became the 2nd ranked Level 5 Esper because of his Dark Matter ability, which has nothing to do with the infamous universe component. It allows him to create and control an unknown material which produces 25,000 types of energy.

This material defies the laws of physics, and he can shape it however he wishes. He can create wings which give him the ability to fly and create powerful gusts, but he can do a lot more. He can disintegrate limbs by turning them into smoke, and he can transform human cells into other substances like sand. He can create special attacks that can pass through shielding and armor, and he can manipulate light and sound.
1Accelerator - Accelerator
Accelerator started off as a villain, but he has gone on to become one of the series' main protagonists. He is currently ranked 1st, and he is the strongest Esper in Academy City. His power is also called Accelerator, and it allows him to create an invisible energy field which modifies the vector values of anything he touches.
He suffered brain damage, and requires the help of the Misaka Network to make calculations now, but he is still capable of defeating Kakine with ease. He can use this ability to deflect and redirect objects and attacks like bullets by taking things such as gravity, air pressure, light, sound, heat, and oxygen into account. He can use this ability to generate earthquakes, and it gives him access to telekinesis.
