The last twelve months or so have been a somewhat turbulent time for anyone looking to get hold of a current gen console, or some PC hardware, with new Nvidia and AMD products being difficult to procure without paying many times above the MSRP. WithIntel’s CEO saying shortages could go on until 2023, there’s every chance that next year could be just as bad. However, business goes on as usual, and “team red,” along with “team green,” are still looking to dominate the market, and a recent leak shows what the specs of one of AMD’s unreleased GPUs are likely to be.
According to a recent report, which cites a leaked image uploaded to Twitter, tech giants Lenovo unwittingly listed theAMDRX 6500 XT, showing some of the major details of the card. The listing was removed quickly, it seems, however, not before user KOMACHI_ENSAKA was able to take a screenshot of the specs and post it to the social media site. It shows that the yet-to-be-released 6500 XT will have a very entry-level memory capacity of 4 GB or GDDR 6. However, it does say that it will be able to support resolutions up to, and including, 8K, though the report does advise against anyone trying to run games on this GPU at that resolution.

This seems to confirm leaks that were doing the rounds recently. Back in November, it was speculated thatAMD were preparing to launch some budget graphics cards, with the RX 6500 XT being mention, as well as the RX 6400, both of which were thought to have 4 GB of memory on a 64-bit bus. As many will imagine, these will not be the kind of products that will be going for the high-end segments of the GPU market, but will likely be for those who want something a lot cheaper, but not necessarily for modern gaming.
Not much else seems known about the AMD 6500 XT, despite the leaked image. While there’s no official release date yet, it’s likely that these budget cards will be coming in 2022, possibly to line up withNvidia launching additional graphics cards in the new yearas well, not to mention newcomers Intel looking to get in on the action with its range of Arc hardware.
It’s likely the RX 6500 XT, and the lesser-spotted RX 6400, will be a lot cheaper than the likes of the upcoming 3090 Ti, but withAMD looking to up its prices by 10% on the 6000 series, who knows how much it will cost by the time consumers get to them. That is, of course, if there are enough supplies to go around.
