Throughout this past year rumors ofRemedy and Epic Games working on a purported sequel toAlan Wakehave been running rampant but neither company has confirmed that a sequel is headed fans' way. Other than the confirmation that both companies are collborating on a AAA project, no solid evidence has been seen regardingAlan Wake 2. Of course, after a whole generation of theAlan Wakefranchise collecting dust, and then the seemingly random occurance of a remaster popping up and releasing, it would seem that a sequel is inevitably headed gamers' way.
The rumormill is moving at full speed as The Game Awards 2021 inches ever closer. The most recent rumor comes courtesy of NateTheHate’s podcast in which prominent industry insiders gave predictions on what games will be revealed at the show. Chief among them was what seemed to be a very strong commitment to the possibility of Remedy giving fans a first look at the long-awaitedAlan Wake 2. YouTuber NateTheHate states thatAlan Wake 2will in fact be getting a “grand reveal” at the awards show.

During the podcast NateTheHate himself was seemingly very committal when it came to the possibility of seeing the reveal of the sequel toAlan Wake. He says that the title will make a “grand reveal” as mentioned previously, and that the plan leading up to this wasn’t random. Apparently,Remedy prepared and releasedAlan Wake Remasteredto get fans caught up and/or reacquainted with Alan and his story so the announcement of his sequel could be made during this year’s Game Awards. No doubt Remedy want this to be one of the biggest headliners of the show and get people excited for future prospects when it comes toAlan Wakeas a franchise.
Geoff Keighley is propping this year’s Game Awards show as something truly bigwith a reported “3-4Elden Ringsize reveals” planned to make their grand world premieres on Thursday. Naturally, that is a subjective statement to make, but there is absolutely no doubt thatElden Ringhas become one of, if not the, most anticipated game for 2022. If Keighley really can pull off such a monumental task, viewers will be in for something truly special during the awards show.
As for the purportedAlan Wake 2, it is entirely possible the game is one of these tentpole titles. If that is the case, hopefully gamers will get more to chew on than just a vague CG trailer or title card trailer. Only a few more hours remain until the big show and gamers will finally know for sure whether they will be joiningAlan Wakeon an all-new adventure.
The Game Awards 2021 premieres Thursday, December 9 at 4:30 PT.
