Recently, Respawn Entertainment released anApex Legendscomic in which Loba and her partner in crime, Jaime, break into an auction house to steal a pair of gems. The story takes place prior to the events of the game and quickly sees Loba getting sidetracked by another expensive prize: a fan that used to belong to her now-deceased mother. Those eager to see how the story goes are better off reading the comic for themselves but to make a long story short,Loba’s greed allows her to get awaywith more than just the fan.
Fans ofApex Legendswho don’t know about the game’s lore may not know much about Loba Andrade. Born to Marcos and Alanza Andrade, Loba was orphaned after the simulacrum assassin Revenant murdered her parents as part of a hired job. Despite being moved to a foster family, Loba started learning the tricks of a thief and began life as a renowned cat burglar. Her hit on the auction house was just one of many jobs, but it also allowed her to rekindle her relationship with her now-deceased parents.

Larceny Is In The Blood
While Loba may not have known it at the time of her parents' deaths, bothMarcos and Alanza Andrade were well-known thieves themselves. Her father, Marcos, worked his way up the food chain; starting with petty larceny before moving to grander schemes. One of these schemes took place at a party where his future wife, Alanza, was. Wearing an expensive bracelet, Alanza caught the eye of Marcos who soon charmed his way into a conversation with her. He got away with her bracelet, but not before Alanza stole Marcos’s communicator. The two met up afterward and discovered their real occupations, whereupon they decided to enter into a partnership and eventually fell in love. This love blossomed into a marriage which then led to Loba’s birth.
As for the circumstances surrounding Marcos and Alanza’s death, it turns out Marcos stole something from someone who had ties to the Syndicate - a conglomerate of mercenary companies. This person organized a hit on Marcos, who was then spending an evening with his wife and daughter. Cue in Revenant’s murderous nature and what was once known as the Andrade family was quickly cut down to just Loba herself.Revenant’s actions earned him Loba’s scorn, which is the main reason why she entered the Apex Games once she discovered his involvement in them.
What’s With The Fan?
As for the fan Loba stole from the auction house, it seems that this item will most likely be Loba’s upcoming heirloom weapon inApex Legends. Fans of the translocating thief have been clamoring for Loba’s heirloom for quite some time, asother legends who were released after her (like Valkyrie)already have their heirlooms. It has been 9 seasons since Loba’s introduction into the game, making her one of the legends who hasn’t gotten their heirloom in the longest time.
There have been speculations that Loba would be getting her heirloom this season, and the comic almost certainly confirms this. For one thing,the fan Loba stole is an actual heirloomthat used to belong to her mother, Alanza. In its current state, the fan looks quite worn and frayed. But knowing Loba, she will quickly restore her mother’s fan to its original beauty and adorn it with riches and technology befitting her thieving nature. The final panel of the comic states that the story is “to be continued”, so it’s most likely Respawn will be releasing more comics concerning Loba, Jaime, and the Andrade heirloom asApex Legendsnears its inevitable mid-season collection event.
