Apex Legends Mobilehas proven to be very popular since its launch in May. With mobile ports for big-name battle royales becoming more and more embedded into the gaming zeitgeist, it is no wonder that Respawn adapted its successful title for mobile audiences.
To set the mobile port ofApex Legendsapart from the console and PC versions of the game, mobile-exclusive Legends and content are set to be periodically added to the title. A great example of this recently came with Season 2 ofApex Legends Mobile, and the addition of an exclusive new Legend named Rhapsody.

The Lore Behind Apex Legends Mobile’s Rhapsody
The core driving force behindApex Legends Mobile’sRhapsody, as her name suggests, is the power of music. With Rhapsody’s family being forced into poverty due to uncovering worrying corporate secrets, Rhapsody processed her pain and struggle through her music. She would go on to use her musical talent as a cover to install viruses within the wealthier corporate districts that financially ruined her family, being forced to compete in the Apex Games as a result.
Competing in the games to rid her family’s debt, Rhapsody has huge ambitions of topping the Legend charts and earning enough money to provide her family with a life even beyond that of what they had prior to being plunged into poverty. Rhapsody is quite unique in her selfless ambitions when compared to many others within theApex Legendscharacter roster, with her role as a dedicated support class only reinforcing her kind-hearted nature.

The Perks and Abilities of Apex Legends Mobile’s Rhapsody
Being a support class, Rhapsody is predictably centered around less offensive abilities. With how small the selection of support classes are for the console and PC versions of the game, the addition ofRhapsody toApex Legends Mobilehas been controversial, in that many PC and console players feel they are being denied content that is very much needed in their versions of the title.
Similarly toOverwatch’sLucio, Rhapsody’s “Hype Anthem” tactical ability sees her blast a high-tempo track that creates an area of effect for ten seconds, speeding up Rhapsody and any nearby allies while slightly restoring shields. Rhapsody’s passive ability is called “Gifted Ear,” allowing the Legend to receive sound visualizations from a further range.
The new Legend’s ultimate ability is called “Rowdy’s Rave”, with Rowdy being the robot companion that follows Rhapsody in battle. When deployed, Rowdy projects a large wall of light that allows the player to see enemies in a red highlight, with the added benefit of being able to see through smoke. In addition to this, “Rowdy’s Rave” also blocks all incoming sight and scans sent by enemy players.
In terms of basic perks, Rhapsody has many that supplement her support role. “Volume Control” allows teammates to gain temporary use of “Gifted Ear” when under the influence of Rhapsody’s tactical, and “Tuned In” increases the range of “Gifted Ear” if the player is continuously running.
Rhapsody’s finisher perks include “Battle Adaptation,” which adds 100 points to a player’s EVO shield after a finisher, and “Tactical Advantage,” which charges Rhapsody’s tactical after a finisher. Another finisher perk is “Interrogator,” which pings the location of a victim’s squad-mates on the mini-map after a finisher is used in battle.
For ability perks, “Rowdy’s Rhythm” sees nearby teammates receive faster reload speeds when Rhapsody’s ultimate is active. WhenRhapsody is using her tactical skill, healing item use and revive speeds are faster as a result of the “Harmony” perk, while “Reverb” lengthens the duration of her tactical ability if more players are within its area of effect. While being mobile-exclusive for now, it is clear that Rhapsody offers a much-needed layer of depth toApex Legends' support character roster.
