Summary
ABaldur’s Gate 3fan recently made a massive map that features nearly every in-game location. This huge project shows just how many places there are to explore in the journey that isBaldur’s Gate 3.
Like many CRPGs,Baldur’s Gate 3is a massive game. Though someBaldur’s Gate 3speedrunners have completed the campaign in minutes, most players will take anywhere from 25 to 125 hours to beat the game, depending on how much time they spend exploring the world, talking to NPCs, or completing side quests.

Now,Baldur’s Gate 3fan and artist Jamelos_leopard has finished a project showing just how big the game world truly is. They combined the playable areas from nearly every corner of the game into one place by connecting the maps from the different act zones, plus the dungeons and instanced areas, into one giant map. A few areas, like the Astral Plane and variousCamps fromBaldur’s Gate 3, are excluded, but all the other explorable locations are rendered together in an impressive display.
How Big is the Baldur’s Gate 3 Map?
According to Jamelos_leopard, the game world forBaldur’s Gate 3is about 100 square kilometers, or just under 40 square miles. While it is still dwarfed by some of thebiggest open-world games in history, it does mean theBaldur’s Gate 3map is larger thanGrand Theft Auto 5, though the highly-anticipated sequel may eclipse it.
Despite its impressive scope, theBaldur’s Gate 3map is a fraction of the region’s actual lore size in theDungeons and Dragonsworld of Faerun. One look at Baldur’s Gate on the loading screen is proof enough that it had to shrink the game’s eponymous city to make it more reasonable to render and explore in Act 3. Even so,Baldur’s Gate is a great example of a fantasy game city, and players will still need hundreds of hours to see everything it and the rest ofBaldur’s Gate 3has to offer.
Either way, players adored Jamelos_leopard’s impressive work, as evidenced by the hundreds of comments it got over the course of a single day. Jamelos_leopard explained their design decisions in their placement of certain locations, lamented the lack of official high-quality maps from Larian Studios, and theorized some of their favorite DLC ideas with their fellow fans. They have already printed their full game map as a poster, but there is still plenty of room to update the impressive display with additional zones if Larian Studios addsmore locations inBaldur’s Gate 3’s potential DLC.
