Independent developers SgtOkiDoki, Vilaskis, and TheLiquidHorse spent seven years creating this massive low-poly FPS. Described by some as a combination ofBattlefield,Call of Duty, and LEGO, the game’s 254-player servers put it head and shoulders above modern AAA shooters in terms of size. It also boasts fully destructible environments,aBattlefieldseries staplethat developers scaled back considerably inBattlefield 2042.

In addition to the massive scale and destructible environments,BattleBit Remasteredincludes multiple features that one would expect from a modern multiplayer FPS. These include over 17 maps, 39 weapons, 13 vehicles, and six classes. Vehicles include tanks, transports, helicopters, and sea vehicles, and each class comes with unique gadgets and a range of customization options.BattleBit Remasteredalso lets players modify their weapons with 78 different attachments. Developers additionally intend to expand the game with a variety of post-release content.

BattleBit Remastered’s Steam page also describes the importance of teamwork in this chaotic first-person shooter.Steam’s newest indie FPSfeatures proximity-based chat that lets players coordinate on the fly but at the risk of the enemy team catching on.BattleBit Remasteredadditionally features a squad-based progression system, where players earn rewards as a team. In fact, developers say that teamwork is not only encouraged inBattleBit Remasteredbut a fundamental part of the experience.

Of course, only time will tell how well all of this plays out in practice.BattleBit Remastered’s developers have made some big promises regarding performance, including a high framerate and high tick rate performance, and there is no real reason to think those aren’t true. However,Battlefield 2042’s reduction of map and lobby sizeswere as much about solving gameplay issues as technical ones. Then again,BattleBit Remasteredalready has a Very Positive user rating on Steam and is only $14.99, soBattlefieldfans might want to consider giving it a look.
