Summary
A new update forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3andWarzonerolled out on December 7. This release arrives just one day after thestart ofModern Warfare 3andWarzoneSeason 1.
TheModern Warfare 3reboot was released on November 10 to mixed reviews, largely on account of its short and underwhelming single-player mode. Thepoor reviews did not stopModern Warfare 3sales from starting strong, underlining the fact that the series' long-term success has been largely rooted in the appeal of its multiplayer offerings. The recently started Season 1 doubled down on that aspect of the newCall of Dutygame by debuting a wide variety of new content.

Mere hours after theModern Warfare 3andWarzoneSeason 1 updateshad rolled out, the two games received another pair of patches on December 7. The new updates are primarily geared toward ironing out minor bugs and other issues that were introduced in the previous versions of the games, although some balancing changes are also part of the newly released package.
Among other things, the December 7 update resolves onescary error message that greeted someModern Warfare 3playersafter the start of Season 1, stating that their data was corrupted. Although the issue was much less problematic than its warning prompt indicated, it did consistently cause some loadout customization resets, which many players found annoying. According to the official changelog attached to the new patch, the developers managed to identify and eliminate the root cause of the problem, both inModern Warfare 3andWarzone.
Another widespread issue addressed with the December 7 patch concerns a peculiar bug that prevented players from equipping the XRK Stalker sniper rifle with Barrel Attachments at their expected Weapon Level. And speaking of gun mod issues, the new update also adds one missing unlock requirement for the ZEHMN35 Compensated Flash Hider. Based on the wording of the changelog, it would appear that this muzzle was already unlockable prior to the latestModern Warfare 3andWarzonepatch, it’s just that its full requirements were not clearly communicated until now.
As is often the case, Activision did not provide an update size breakdown by platform to go along with this patch. The Season 1 update weighed between 30 GB and 40 GB, depending on the system, although some Xbox gamers previously reported that the patch triggered a complete game reinstall on their end, requiring them to download upward of 200 GB. Be that as it may, the hotfix nature of the December 7 patch indicates that this release should be much smaller than the Season 1 update.
