A new weekly update toCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Season One,COD: MWUpdate 1.12, channels some major Christmas spirit with the content it brings. One such piece of content happens to be a new Gunfight variation that currently allows players to kill each other with snowballs.
This seasonal variation plays out a lot like Gunfight OSP, with players needing to collect snowballs from the piles of them lying aroundthe new Winter Docks map. Once obtained, these snowballs work like throwing knives, leading to one very deadly snowball fight.

More specifically, in the first round of a Gunfight match, players will not have access to any guns, only snowballs. This is just a warm-up, though, and it doesn’t count toward a match win. Once this round ends, players will resume their normal Gunfight shenanigans, but they can continue to pickup snowballs around the map and use them. While snowballs don’t give any obvious advantages, they do allow players to net disrespectful victories or continue to partake in honorable snow-based duels.
To further clarify, Snowball Fights do not replace the regularGunfight game mode, and they instead exist as an additional feature. This is an important distinction because Gunfight OSP received some backlash when it was introduced into the game a few weeks ago due to the fact that it completely replaced the standard Gunfight game mode for a week.
The idea of snowball fights as a seasonal, additional feature to Gunfight works surprisingly well, giving the mode a unique feel to go along with all the visual changes. Sadly, while regular snowball fights can happen throughout the whole of the winter season, fans should only expectCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s to last until next week’s scheduled update.
For those who haven’t had the chance to experience it yet, the Winter Docks map also sports all kinds of new Christmas decorations, such as wreaths, lights, Christmas-themed graffiti, and, of course, snow. Additionally,Winter Docks features a group of snowmenthat will trigger a fun surprise for those who find and destroy them all.
