Despite all the critical and commercial fallout,Cyberpunk 2077was still one of Steam’s most played games in 2021. Patch 1.5 is such a massive update that it looks to address virtually every outstanding issue the game still might have lingering over its cybernetic head.

Highlights for next-gen console enthusiasts bring 4K resolution with dynamic scaling (at 60fps), ray tracing with local light shadows, and faster loading times. In addition, the PS5 patch will implement the use of adaptive triggers and haptic feedback features on the DualSense controller, even going so far as to use the built-in speaker for things like holocalls, text messages, and internal monologue inside V’s head. Players can also now transfer saves from the PS4 to PS5.

CD Projekt Red added some important PC-specific changes. Players can now enable Variable Rate Shading (VRS), which should boost rendering performance and visual quality. It also fixed an issue that blocked resolution scaling on AMD graphics cards when ray tracing was enabled. PC players should be happy to find that a benchmark mode has finally been included.

Gameplay and quality of life improvements include being able to rent apartments, and players can nowcustomize V’s starting apartment with more than just burritos. Some interactions performed inside the apartments will provide temporary buffs. Taking a shower applies “Refreshed” for one hour, sleeping regenerates health, and brewing coffee will give the “Energized” buff.

Players can endlessly tweak appearance features like hair, makeup, piercing, etc. for free when using the mirror in apartments and safe houses. Initial character customization also includes more makeup and hair color options. CD Projekt Red has alsoimproved the functionality ofCyberpunk 2077’s clothing, and adjusted the number of modification slots available.

A five-hour free trial ofCyberpunk 2077is available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S until March 15th, and all progress made during that trial will transfer over.Cyberpunk 2077may never be totally free of bugs, but with all the fixes, additions, and expansion into next-gen consoles, patch 1.5 might finally be the version the world has been waiting for.
