The Raiju is a gun that’s unique in more ways than one. Apart frombeing a Tech SMG, it has the unique property of not needing any charging in order for its shots to penetrate cover. This caters to a fast run-and-gun playstyle that brings out the best inCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty’scombat.
This weapon is somewhat hidden, though it should always be available to players after they’re done with the opening sequence ofCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. For anyone who’s looking for a reliable run-and-gun weapon, here’s where to find the Raiju.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty - Raiju SMG Location
The Raiju SMG can be found behind a locked gate inside a Barghest stronghold in Dogtown indicated byan Increased Criminal Activity marker. This underground base is found near the Kress Street fast travel point, and players can head visit it as soon as they finishPhantom Liberty’slengthy intro mission.
With thechanges brought about by Patch 2.0, players no longer need to worry about fighting enemies that are significantly higher leveled than they are. All enemies will scale according to V’s level, which means attacking the Barghest stronghold should prove to be a conquerable challenge.

Bulldoze through Hansen’s men and follow the tunnels. Eventually, players will come face to face with Ross Ulmer, a Barghest boss wearing a robotic exosuit. Defeat him to get a key for the gated storage area at the end of the stronghold. Raiju will be on the table alongside other high-tier pieces of loot.
Raiju is an iconic version of the Arasaka Senkoh LX, a Tech SMG model that fires in five-round bursts when hipfired and full-auto when aimed down. Unlike its more common brethren, Raiju’s shots will always penetrate cover, and all hits to the head have a higher crit chance. Additionally, this gun deals increased crit damage, making it very strong even if players do get100% crit chance via cyberwareand skills.
Players will be able to take advantage of Raiju’s intrinsic cover penetration property without needing to aim or hold down the trigger. The weapon does spit bullets out faster when used in burst-fire mode, resulting in higher sustained DPS if they can keep their aim steady.
This gun is best used with the automatic weapons skills in the Reflexes tree as those greatly improve Raiju’s crit chance and stability. The Bolt and Chain Lightning skillsin the Technical Abilitytree also helps improve Raiju’s ability to fight against multiple targets while also giving it an effect that fits its name.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertyis available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
