At the end of theStar Warssequeltrilogy,Rey’s story was concludedwhen she made it known that she was a Skywalker. As she gazed at Tatooine’s two suns in the final scene, audiences were convinced that would be the last time they would ever see the Force-sensitive heroine. But never say never - in a recent conversation with bestselling author Sarah Wilson, Daisy Ridley said she hasn’t completely ruled out returning to the series and reprising the role.
Wilson took to Twitter to share snippets of their discussion, during which she asked Ridley if she would still be open to returning to theStar Warsas Rey. Previous reports had said she was done with the series altogether, but Ridley explained that such claims were taken out of context and that she’d gladly suit up as Rey again, given the opportunity. “It’s not like… I’m like no more Star Wars,” she added.

That said, Wilson also said Ridley felt “the ending was complete” and that she “was happy with it,” which could be a hint that the sequel trilogy will not be revived or extended, at least in the near future. Yet, despite the unlikelihood, rumors continue to spread thata reboot is in the worksas a Disney Plus series.Star Warsleaker Doomcock recently reported that Disney could be looking into creating three ten-episode series based onThe Force Awakens,The Last Jedi, andRise of Skywalker.
His sources claim that Disney would completely revampThe Last Jediin particular, removing the theatrics of Leia’s flying sequence and renaming the series altogether.Rise of Skywalkerwould also be “100 percent” different andfranchise icon Mark Hamillwould come back to give Luke Skywalker a proper ending; that is, “as long as he is in good health.”
Rey’s survival at the end of the sequel trilogy means that if Disney and Lucasfilm ever decide to produce future films or television shows on her story, they can always bring her back. For example, it would make sense for Rey to return if there was a chance that Ben Solo was still alive; though the only way this could be possible is if he became a Force ghost like his father, Han Solo, while trapped in the World Between Worlds.
For now, fans can explore other stories within theStar Warsuniverse with upcoming projects such asStar Wars: The Bad BatchandThe Book of Boba Fett, which areset to release on Disney Plus this year.
TheStarWarssequel trilogy is currently available to stream on Disney Plus.
