Darksiders Genesisis currently available on Game Pass, so while some may be put off by such a change for the series, it’s worth checking out. ManyDarksiders Genesisreviewspaint it as a successful transition to an entirely new playstyle, while maintaining the series iconic puzzles, platforming, action, and characters.
Players take on the roles of War and Strife, giving fans the stoic and angry War everyone has come and love, as well as the jokester Strife. The two brothers get a long decently but are powerful together nonetheless inDarksiders Genesis. Introducing a more detailed look at Strifehere means that players are now familiar with all the Horsemen, especially after playing as Death inDarksiders 2and Fury inDarksiders 3, meaning it’s the perfect time for a game with 4-player co-op.

Darksiders: The Four Horsemen
At the end of the first game, War discovers that the council has betrayed him, so he’ll end up fighting them, Heaven, and Hell. Many expected this adventure to carry over into the next game, but instead,Darksiders 2andDarksiders 3take place either before or during War’s imprisonment/main game. While the timeline is somewhat complicated, the simple thing to keep in mind is that the originalDarksidersis the most recent entry in the timeline.
Practically since the moment that War said he would not be fighting alone, though, fans have been asking for a 4 player co-op game with the four horsemen, butDarksidersGenesis is the closest fans have gotten with War and Strife. However, because of this, all four horsemen, their personalities, and their abilities are out in the open, making it the perfect time to continue on from the first game as War summons them to his side.
Seeing War, Strife, Fury, and Death finally team up to push the story forward and deal with the council is something fans of the franchise are ready for. It’s been a long time coming and should THQ Nordic seize this and look at other co-op games (Outriders, Borderlands, Gotham Knights,Marvel’s Avengers, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice), it’s clear that there’s still room for moreDarksiders. Whereas other games may emphasize loot, there’s no need to inDarksiders 4(no more than past games at least). Compiling puzzles that require the four horsemen, facing off against beefy bosses while relying on friends to fulfill their roles, and finally bringing the story to conclusion would work wonders for the franchise.
Of course, it all remains to be seen when and if another numbered entry ofDarksidersreleases.Genesisshows that the interest is still there, even though many agree thatDarksiders 3doesn’t hold a candleto its predecessors. And a 4-player co-op game forDarksiders 4lines up so well that it’s practically a must for the next release in the franchise.
