Summary

Bend Studio, the Oregon-based developer behind the post-apocalyptic zombie shooterDays Gone, seems to be hard at work on its new IP, the company has teased. While the update did not reveal any new details regarding the team’s upcoming game that is expected to come out for the PlayStation 5, it did imply that some solid progress is being made on the project.

Acquired by PlayStation parent company Sony Interactive Entertainment back in 2000,Bend Studiohad been focused on churning out shooters and adventure titles for the gaming brand’s handheld systems before releasingDays Gonefor the PS4 in 2019. Sony shot down a pitch for a sequel despite the first game’s commercial success, and Bend Studio has been working on a new IP that builds onDays Gone’s open world systems ever since.

After a long stretch of time without mentioning any progress on its next title, Bend Studio told fans that it was still working on a new IP. “We cooking,” the developer said on Twitter in response to a user who asked for an update on the team’s current project.Bend Studio previously announced that its upcoming game will be an open world multiplayer experience- the first of its kind for the company. The developer’s community manager, Kevin McAllister, claimed last May that the studio’s current project will also be its best game yet.

Sony will surely benefit greatly once Bend Studio finally announces its next title. The PS5 currently only has around a dozen true exclusives, and that small pool also includes upcoming games that have been announced like therecently delayed third-person action gameStellar Blade.

While incredibly unlikely for now, we might see anotherDays Gonetitle in the future, especially since the IP has a lot of untapped potential.Days Gonealso ends on a cliffhanger, so fans of the game will probably appreciate a proper resolution to the story.

Apetitionasking Sony to approve aDays Gonesequel that was launched in 2021 has already collected around 210,000 signatures, so it is clear that there is at least some demand for such an initiative.Bend Studiois in luck should it ever release a new game as there are already a lot of greattitles for any potentialDays Gonesequel or prequel.
