A new “This Week in Destiny” blog post from Bungie confirms that Sunbreaker andBerserker Titans inDestiny 2will be heavily nerfed in Season of the Wish with some of their most notable abilities being dialed back. Firstly, Bungie doubled the required number of enemy defeats for leveling up the Berserker Titan’s Banner of War. To compensate for this change to the Banner of War Strand Aspect, the amount of time added per enemy defeat in each level has been increased. As a result,Destiny 2players may notice that reaching maximum charge with Banner of War may take longer and require more powerful enemy defeats, such as major enemies and Champions. According to Bungie, Banner of War is too easy to charge up in activities with a dense number of enemies, leading to the developer’s decision to make balance changes in Season of the Wish.

Bungie will implement major nerfs to the Sunbreaker Titan’s Throwing Hammer and Sol Invictus abilities. Instead of instantly receiving energy back, Throwing Hammer will now return melee energy over the span of 1.4 seconds. The Throwing Hammer’s projectile tracking strength will be increased by 20% to compensate for the nerf, soDestiny 2players should be able to throw the hammer across slightly longer ranges. Moreover, the maximum Sunspot duration with Sol Invictus will be reduced from 20 seconds to 12 seconds. This maximum duration may be reached if the Sunspot is generated by its player. If the Sunspot doesn’t belong to the player, the maximum duration will be just five seconds.

This round of nerfs will likely affect how manyDestiny 2players approach their Strand and Solar Titan subclasses inSeason of the Wish’s new content. However, this gives fans the opportunity to experiment with other subclasses that may have been overlooked in previous updates. Bungie may also revert some changes in the future if player feedback notes that the affected subclasses do not perform well in certain content.

More balance changes are expected with The Final Shape expansion sinceBungie will introduce new elemental supers toDestiny 2. These new supers will likely be very powerful, but Bungie typically makes major changes after seeing how the community fares with new abilities in the weeks following an expansion’s launch.
