TheEpic Games Storehas been fighting an uphill battle ever since it launched in 2018. Despite the vast resources at Epic Games' disposal, Valve’s Steam platform has firmly established itself as the premiere destination for PC games. In an effort to pull users away from Steam and to itsEpic Games Storelauncher, Epic Games has leveraged its resources to regularly give away games completely free of charge.
The Epic Games Store free games come in different ways. During big sales, theEpic Games Store runs mystery game promotionswhere users aren’t sure what the next free game will be until it’s actually made free. This keeps users coming back to find out what the mystery game ends up being, with the hope that one of the discounted games will catch their eye while they’re browsing the launcher. Most of the time, the Epic Games Store lets users know what the free games will be from one week to the next, and so is the case with the free games that are available now.

The current batch ofEpic Games Store free games, available until July 7 at 10:00am CT, were announced a week in advance - at least when it comes to two of the three games, that is. Epic Games Store users have known for a week that they would be able to claimGeneforge 1: MutagenandIratus: Lord of the Deadfor free, but they were only given a few days' notice when it comes toHood: Outlaws & Legendsbeing one of the free games this week.
Epic Games Store Free Games This Week
The fact that the Epic Games Store is giving users three games to claim for free this week is surprising since the launcher typically sticks with two free games in any given week, though there have certainly been exceptions to that rule over the years. There have been other times when the Epic Games Store has given away more than two free games, and the launcher has also gone on streaks where it only gives away one free game every week. Regardless, Epic Games Store users have until July 7 to claimGeneforge 1: Mutagen,Hood: Outlaws & Legends, andIratus: Lord of the Deadfor their libraries.
In the meantime,Epic Games Store usersalready know what to expect from next week’s offerings. From July 7 to July 14, EGS users will be able to claimAncient EnemyandKilling Floor 2for their collections.
