Bethesda games are known for providing players with complete freedom to play however they’d like. It’s been a unique selling point for the games over the years, remaining one of the years the studio’s titles are often played for many years after their original release dates. While some features ofFallout 4were criticized upon release for restricting roleplaying potential, such as the voiced protagonist, that hasn’t stopped players from finding new ways to explore the Commonwealth, even if gamers have to self-impose restrictions at times, just as this user has.

Redditor andreworr2402 posted the image of their incredible challenge run online, showcasing their level 100 character interacting with Piper outside of Diamond City, indicating they had never even entered it. According to the user, every piece of DLC and sidequest was complete prior to this, meaning that the Diamond City content was all they had left during that playthrough. There’s certainlya lot to do outside ofFallout 4’s main story, which has a huge Diamond City focus, but reaching level 100 without the XP from the main quests is some feat, and certainly must have taken a lot of grinding to reach.

Some in the thread tried to poke holes in the story, wondering how they completed certain elements without entering the city. One player wondered how they completed Far Harbor without speaking to Ellie, however, another user provided the solution to the puzzle. Simply put,Fallout 4offers enough choicesfor the player to be able to complete the content without ever entering Diamond City. It certainly speaks to Bethesda’s solid work during the development of the RPG.

Diamond City is undoubtedly an iconic location in theFalloutuniverse. Its unique design is immediately striking, and is everything players could want from a city in an RPG. Gamers will be hoping thatwhatever Bethesda has in store forFallout 5, the studio is able to create similarly iconic areas that are interesting to explore for many years to come. WithStarfieldandThe Elder Scrolls 6still to come first, it’ll be a very long wait before that, but gamers are safe in the knowledge that Bethesda’s Todd Howard has discussed the existence of the game in the past.

Fallout 4is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions coming in 2023.
