Fallout 76Version 1.7.5.4 has officially dropped. Unlikesome of the other recent updates forFallout 76, this one mostly focuses on game maintenance, offering tweaks and patchwork as opposed to wholly new content for players to enjoy.
Acting as a prequel to the prior entries in its franchise,Falllout 76received mixed critical reception upon its 2018 release, but has been kept alive and kicking via numerous seasons of downloadable content over the almost five years since. The game differentiates itself from otherFalloutgames via the introduction of online multiplayer with up to three other players (making it the very first Bethesda game to incorporate such a feature) and an initial lack of human NPCs.

As of today, Version 1.7.5.4 is finally live, offering an array of small tweaks to the gameplay to make the experience a little more smooth, and there don’t appear to beany hidden changes this time around. The patch will require 2.4 GB of memory for the Steam version, 10.3 GB for the Microsoft Store, 9.7 GB for PlayStation 4, and 10.2 GB on Xbox One.
The update provides a litany of tweaks to just about every aspect of the game, from its weapons and equipment, to its sidequests, to even smaller aspects such as the UI, animation, and sound. The game’s community has writtenan unnofficial ruleset forFallout 76, so it should be interesting to see if those rules might change as a result of some of these changes.
Despite the lack of new content, this update still proves to be quite substantial, and it should make the gameplay experience just different enough for players to notice, and maybe even draw in some more good word of mouth. WithsomeFallout 76detractors suggesting that the game might not last long, little changes like this could go a long enough way to extend its lifespan further. While it is a sign that fixing flawed games can draw in good will and rectify their image, it still does not erase the fact that it’s always better to release a game in a complete state.
Fallout 76is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
