Summary
The PS5 was released in 2020, shortly after theFinal Fantasy 7 Remakehit store shelves. It was a wild year for video games as new games were hard to come by, much like the hardware itself, due to the global pandemic and scalpers. A year later, Square Enix released a PS5 version withimprovements, including Yuffie DLC.
From the original release toFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, it took four years. Based on these patterns, it’s hard to predict the future of the final part of this trilogy. Will it come out in 2028 on the PS5, or will it be a PS6 game? Will it come sooner? There are a lot of variables for the future but the finale’s release window is irrelevant; Square Enix just has to do their best to include these things to keep fans happy.

7Playable Cid And Vincent
The Dragoon And The Turk
InFinal Fantasy 7 Remake,Red 13joined at the end of the game, but hewasn’t playable. That was saved forFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and seemingly, that is going tohappen for Cidand Vincent in the final chapter. Vincent is almost a guarantee because he has weapons whereas it’s a bit murky for Cid.
Cid doesn’t have his lance, and he never talks about fighting. It would be a bit wild for him to somehow pull a lance out of thin air to tell the party he could have fought this whole time. Square Enix could perhaps explain this inDLC forFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and it wouldn’t hurt toset up Vincent, too, who has awild backstory in the original.
6Vehicles And The World
Returning To The Skies
Chocoboswere a big part ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, but players also got to enjoyriding the Buggy around Corel and the Tiny Bronco in the ocean. There are two more vehicles Square Enix has to include in the final game. The first was previewed in Junon, The Highwind, and they even set up theUnderwater Reactorif players talk to the right soldier.
Near the end ofFinal Fantasy 7, players got to explore theocean floor with a submarinearound said reactor. To a lesser extent, the party also went tospace in a rocket, although players couldn’t explore space, and that would be too much in the next chapter to include. Instead, hopefully, Square Enix willlet players explore the entire worldthey built starting fromFinal Fantasy 7 RemakewithThe Highwind, and adding ocean sections would be cool too.
5Snowboarding
Icicle Inn Is Calling
SinceFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthskipped overBone Village and The Forgotten Capitolas real areas, the next game will probably start with the team in the snow, heading to the town of Icicle Inn. It would be an interesting way to create a metaphor. The party is going through a blinding snowstorm on the way toIcicle Innto suggest to players that the future is unknown.
In the original game, players can find out and Aerithin Icicle Inn, so it could mirror howFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthstarted with Cloud’s flashback. Most importantly, though, this part of the game has to include the snowboard mini-game. It was teased inGold Sauceralready, so hopefully, it wasn’t just anEaster Egg inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthbut more like a confirmation.
4Tifa Vs. Scarlet
Scarlet Needs To Get Her Clock Cleaned
In the original game, players went fromIcicle Inn to the Northern Crater, where things go wild. That should set up the beginning of the finale remake to be absolutely bonkers as well. After Cloud gives the “real” Sephiroth the Black Materia, he awakens the Weapons of the planet, and then things sort of fade to black as the party is kidnapped by Shinra.
The perspective shiftsover to Tifa, who has to escape Shinra’s shackles within Junon, leading to one of the most iconic moments in the original game: theslap fight. Tifa and Scarlet smack the heck out of each other, and it’s not a mini-game, although the remake can certainlymake it more of a mechanical moment.
3Wutai
Going To Yuffie’s Homeland
Yuffie was a side characterin the original game along with her homeland,Wutai. It is almost certain the party will go there as amain part of the storysince she is more integrated intoFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth. This could also be a more impactful moment that could tie into the original Avalanche.
This is where the party could finalize theplans to take on Shinraonce and for all. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen. The one thing the final remake has to nail, though, isDon Corneofinally getting his comeuppance and players really need to feel that kill.
2Invading Shinra HQ
Parachuting Into Madness
The aforementioned preparation phase in Wutai will lead to thetakedown of Shinra. In the original game, it’s just Cloud and the others who parachuted back into Midgar for the first time since the start of the adventure. It’s a huge moment, and Shinra HQ and other sections of Midgar were kind of like the second to last dungeon of the game.
It was a high point in the original, and it will certainly be a big selling point in the final remake. If Square Enix includes it, that is, but it will probably happen becauseFinal Fantasy 7 Remakealready had a parachuting section. So, the DNA is already coded within this trilogy.
1Zack Needs To Get A Better Conclusion
Make This Remake Count
Theending ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthis one of the most confusing things in the game. Why did the game spend so much time building up Zack in that other universe to just kill him off again? Did Square Enix do it purposely tomislead players into thinking Zack would live this time around?
They pulled that move with Aerith, too. Will Zack return, or didFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthput the final nail in his coffin? That’s abig question, but hopefully, the last remake in this trilogy will subvert expectations once again. Theyshould bring Zack backfor a more prominent role beyond just a heavenly figure helping Cloud out like some sort of glorified Force Ghost.
