Essential to anyFinal Fantasytitle is MP, or Magic Points. This meter determines the magic or other special attacks that a character can use. Like countless other aspects, this stat has evolved with the series.

Some characters have more MP than others. Some of that comes down to their specialty. After all, classes and jobs are the foundation for turn-based gameplay inFinal Fantasy. On the other hand, much of someone’s MP comes down to scaling. Certain entries require more points to pull off attacks. To compensate, they give greater amounts to the fighters.Final Fantasy 7is a prime example of this. In the end, MP count depends on both the entry and the role.
7Tifa (Final Fantasy 7)
Thispeppy pugilist is a balanced fighter. That’s what hardcore martial arts training does for someone who’s truly dedicated. Tifa comes with respectable stats across the board. As for MP, it can reach 850 once she maxes out her level. That’s around the middle tier for late in the game.
Such reliability extends to her equipment. Her fighting gloves can house four to six materia slots. Fans may fill these with magic. Given the girl’s physical prowess, though, many probably prefer specialized buffs for her melee attacks or support moves. Either build works, as she has ample MP for each.

6Red XIII (Final Fantasy 7)
Thewily feline is full of surprises. Experimented on by Shinra, the cat known as “Red XIII” emphasizes speed. His dexterity is a cut above all other party members, letting him activate more attacks in a shorter amount of time. That’s why his headdresses have so many materia slots, ranging from four to eight. The catch is that his lowest stat is his MP.
At best, Red can have an MP level of 866. However, that’s not much of a catch considering it’s still higher than half the group. As a result, players will likely win the battle before it ever runs out.

5Cait Sith (Final Fantasy 7)
Thestuffed cat puppetisn’t the most appealing party member at first. That’s not only due to his two-faced actions as a Shinra employee, but also his stats. Every other party member outclasses him in most areas. To compensate, he possesses high levels of magic and spirit.

That’s why is MP value caps at 869. That, combined with a whopping eight materia slots on most of his weapons, sends a clear message. The creators intend for players to utilize Cait Sith’s skills as a mage. In fact, he’s one of the only holders of the Manipulate materia, automatically equipped with it upon joining the heroes. That’s a great use for all that MP, as it lets players control their enemies. Such a boon is never unwelcome.
4Cloud (Final Fantasy 7)
The de facto hero ofFinal Fantasy 7, Cloud has an all-around balance of stats. He’s like Tifa in that respect. The difference is that most of his are on the higher end of the spectrum.
That includes his MP, which tops out at 905. This facilitates ample spellcasting mixed with special melee attacks. His arsenal reflects that balance, as most of his swords have four or five materia slots. This isn’t the highest, but it still allows a healthy variety of spells. Such is one of the perks of being SOLDIER (kind of).

3Vincent (Final Fantasy 7)
The second optional party member ofFF7,Vincent’s appearance is somewhat misleading. His guns and monstrous transformations lead one to believe he’s a physical fighter, but his stats are lower than most. However, there’s an exception to the rule.
Vincent’s MP is one of the highest in the game. It stands tall at 915 when fully powered up. This means he can go from gunslinger to spellcaster. His weapons have the materia slots to back it up, equipped with four at minimum and eight at maximum. What’s more is that, unlike a certain other mage on this list, he’ll actually be around to use this materia.

2Aerith (Final Fantasy 7)
The resident healer ofFF7, Aerith naturally has the most MP. That also may be due to her ancestry, as the humble flower girl is the last of the Cetra and, thus, more in-tune with the planet’s mystical mako energy. The reasoning may also come down to her weapons. Like Vincent’s arsenal, most of them have four to eight materia slots. Because of that, she can usually cast the most spells.

To accommodate these gifts, Aerith’s MP cap is the highest of any character. She can max it out at 994. Sadly, many players won’t see it go that high, as she dies before reaching her full potential.
1Warrior Of Light (Final Fantasy 14)
Despite all the seasoned mages in theFinal Fantasyseries, it’s ironic thatthe greenhorn player characterhas the most MP of the bunch.Final Fantasy 14’s Warrior of Light has a whopping 10,000 MP. This dwarfs every other character in the series. Even better, players don’t need special items to fill it up. Instead, it recovers on its own.
As if that wasn’t enough, the Healer class’s Piety stat can increase the rate of restoration. Now, fans can sling spells left and right. Unfortunately, such a gargantuan gauge has a downside. Namely, it doesn’t change. Players can’t increase their MP by leveling up or changing their equipment. It remains constant at 10,000 points. With such a huge amount, though, it’s hard to complain. Asking for more MP would just feel like overkill.
