Christian Bale received acclaim for his portrayal of Batman in Christopher Nolan’sThe Dark Knighttrilogy. Now, a talented fan has unveiled artwork that imagines what Bale might look like if he returned to the DC Universe asThe Flashvillain Reverse-Flash.
In the comics, Reverse-Flash is the villainous alter-ego of Eobard Thawne, a brilliant criminal who frequently uses his superspeed abilities to travel through time and battle againstThe Flash. Born in the 25th Century, Reverse-Flash’s story has changed over time, but fans may most be familiar with the version fromThe CW’sFlashseries, where the character was shown to be responsible for the murder of Barry Allen’s mother Nora.

However, Reverse-Flash has yet to be featured in a live-action DC film, likely because his Scarlet Speedster nemesis has yet to star in a standalone live-action feature. Nonetheless, Photoshop artistm.design34’s artwork depicting Bale as Reverse-Flash demonstrates how the villain could work in a live-action DC film with a comics-accurate outfit. Adorned inReverse-Flash’s classic yellow suit, this fan-imagined incarnation of the character even has the the glowing red eyes that have become synonymous with the villain. Of course, the artists rendition of the costume appears to resemble armor more than leather in certain areas.
While Bale does not appear to be returning to the DC world any time soon, the former Batman actor is stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Taika Waititi’sThor: Love and Thunder.Bale will portrayGorr the God Butcher, and if the character is anything like the comic book version, he’ll have it out for the gods of the MCU. Per Marvel Comics lore, Gorr was raised to revere the gods, but his faith was shattered after he lost his entire family. Exiled for expressing his belief that gods do not exist, Gorr is sent down a path that binds him with All-Black the Necrosword and prompt him to begin a quest to kill all gods.
As for Reverse-Flash, there doesn’t seem to be any official word on the character appearing in a live-action DC film anytime soon. However, becauseEzra Miller’sThe Flashfilmis said to be inspired by theFlashpointcomic book storyline, there’s always a possiblity that Reverse-Flash will be responsible for Nora Allen’s murder in the DCEU, as was the case in the Arrowverse.
Of course,The Flashfilm is taking creative liberties with the story, so fans should expect a fresh interpretation of the source material. Besides, the inclusion ofMichael Keaton’s Batman inThe Flashis likely more than enough to satisfy DC fans.
The Flashis currently scheduled to be released in theaters on August 01, 2025.
