It’s a common belief in theGenshin Impactcommunity that players need 5-star characters in order to defeat the Spiral Abyss challenge. There is some truth to that sentiment – 5-star characters make it easier to surpass that gauntlet. However, that doesn’t mean the statistically weaker 4-star characters aren’t viable. In fact, there have been plenty of demonstrations of their prowess.

Plenty of factors are involved in this notion such as 4-star characters having typically higher constellations than 5-stars. Sure enough, one would need a good team in order to make a 4-star team competent. Luckily, theGenshin Impactcommunity loves underdog accomplishments and thus flock to tried and tested tactics that these 4-star teams have achieved in the Abyss.
Updated on June 18, 2025, by Nahda Nabiilah:Some Genshin Impact updates also come with new 4-star units. Although 5-stars are generally better than the non-premium counterpart, 4-star characters too can perform amazingly if used properly. In the Spiral Abyss, players shouldn’t hesitate to use a team of 4-star units as they can take care of themselves just fine. To add to some previously listed parties, this article is now updated to include some meta composition like the F2P Sukokomon. For players who are unlucky in getting golden characters or are simply looking for a challenge, they can try out this team of strictly 4-star units.

11Xiangling - Bennett - Xingqiu - Sucrose
Lately, inGenshin ImpactAbyss, the team of Xiangling, Bennett, Xingqiu, and Sucrose has been finding a lot of love among all users. The rotation between Xiangling and Xingqiu while getting Supported by Bennett and Sucrose can get into an infinitive loop.
Xiangling with her big AoE takes the responsibility of carrying the damage, while Xingqiu’s famous Burst’s swords will deal immense off-field damage. Bennett will heal and buff the team as Sucrose CC enemies and reduce their resistance to her team’s Elements. Such a team requires high Energy Recharge on each one of its units, plus proper management of the team’s rotation.

How To Use It:
10Fischl - Xiangling - Sucrose - Xingqiu
Fischl, Xiangling, and Xingqiu, all can inflict great damage while they’re off-field. All three of them place their abilities on the field to deal continuous Electro, Pyro, and Hydro damage. Then, Sucrose will keep Swirling all their Elements together over and over again, creating many Elemental Reactions.
This team composition heavily relies on Elemental Mastery to increase the reactions’ damage, and Sucrose can grant this stat to all of her team. So it’s better to give her as much Elemental Mastery as possible.

9Razor - Rosaria - Yun Jin - Diona
Razordoesn’t need an explanation of how good he is with dealing Physical damage. He can carry the team, whileRosariaandYun Jinbuff hisCritical Rate and Normal attacks’ damage. Diona will be the team’s dedicated shielder and healer.
In addition to the buffs this team provides for Razor, Rosaria and Diona will enable a Superconduct Reaction with their Cryo application. Razor will trigger the Reaction, reducing enemies’ resistance to Physical damage by 40% for 12s.

8Ningguang - Yun Jin - Xiangling - Bennett
This team composition’s sole purpose is tomaximize Ningguang’s DPS inGenshin Impact. Two Pyro units to trigger the Pyro Resonance, Yun Jin to buff Normal attacks, Xiangling’s crazy never-ending Burst, and finally, Bennett’s Burst to take Ningguang damage to the roof.
Ningguang’s Charged attacks are strong, but her Normal attacks are also amazing. With this team composition, anything Ningguang does is boosted and buffed to hurt enemies around her, especially her Normal attacks. Since Ningguang shoots two rocks, both are buffed by Yun Jin’s ability.

7Beidou - Xingqiu - Bennett - Kaeya
Some calculations have been publicized and it turns out that a C6Beidoucan actually go toe-to-toe with a C0 Eula in the Spiral Abyss. So here she is in her full glory. It’s alright if players don’t have a C6 Beidou as her support can still provide plenty of damage increases for her.

As always, this team relies on Beidou’s counterattack for survival since there is no shield giver. Xingqiu and Kaeya are there for the good old-fashioned freeze. Bennett is the dedicated team healer and buffer; he alsodestroys Cryoshields fast.
How to use it:
6Ningguang - Xingqiu - Diona - Bennett
Players would do well not to sleep on Ningguang and her geo damage. She’s actually one of the most competent 4-star characters in the game lore-wise and damage-wise. The thing about Xingqiu’s Elemental Burst is that it still attacks enemies from ranged. Couple that with Ningguang’s attacks and it’s a safe team.

Diona is there to provide a shield, healing, and some Cryo application (for freeze). Bennett as always will buff and heal. He’ll also come in handy against Cryo enemies.
5Yanfei - Bennett - Xingqiu - Sucrose
Pyro teams are always welcome inGenshin Impact. They’re easy to use and consistently deal high damage with the right support. SinceDiluc,Klee, andHu Taoare 5-stars, Yanfei is the prime candidate here in their place. Bennett is there for healing, buffing, and Pyro resonance.
Xingqiu willapply Hydrofor Vaporize and Sucrose will shred enemy elemental resistance as well as group the enemies.

4Kaeya - Bennett - Xiangling - Noelle
In this team, there are two characters who can act as the main DPS but the damage setup usually involves the Melt reaction. Xiangling is the main hero in that regard since Melt triggered with Pyro is more powerful. Bennett plays his usual role. Kaeya is there for Cryo and to act as backup DPS.

Meanwhile, Noelle has a valuable shield and some panic button healing. She can also act as a backup DPS just in case.
3Xiangling - Xingqiu - Bennett - Chongyun/Kaeya
For a more control-orientedXianglingteam composition, this is the one. It involves freeze on top of the Vaporize or Melt.Xingqiucan provide that Vaporize reaction and Chongyun or Kaeya can provide Melt for Xiangling to trigger. It doesn’t matter much which comes first since the enemies will be Frozen.
Bennett fulfills his usual role here since the team lacks a dedicated healer.

2Fischl - Razor - Diona - Xingqiu
For anElectro resonanceteam that works and capitalizes on the Superconduct reaction, this one does surprisingly well. It’s a good alternative to a Eula team but with 4-stars instead. Fischl might need to be C6 here in order to be a respectable DPS, otherwise, she’d just beRazor’s support. Both of them deal tons of physical damage.

Couple that with Superconduct using Diona’s abilities and it’s a solid team. Xingqiu is there for some backup healing and if freeze is needed. Players can replace Diona with Kaeya/Rosaria/Chongyun if they want something more consistent.
