A recent leak forGenshin Impactis teasing a new sub-region set to come to the game in Version 3.8. The HoYoVerse RPG has seen plenty of major additions to its playable area throughout recent updates withthe arrival of the Sumeru region. Version 3.0 saw the lush rainforests of the game’s newest major region added while Version 3.1 introduced the Sumeru deserts with a variety of new enemies and new underground dungeons to explore. Now, a prominent leaker has revealed a new sub-region set to come to the game in a future update.
A new leak shared from trustedGenshin Impactleaker Blank has revealed an aquatic location planned for Version 3.8 referred to by the codename “Penumbra.” Blank reveals the region is a sub-region of another, similar to past regional additions toGenshin Impactlike Enkanomiya and The Chasm. Penumbra will reportedly be related to “Water-formed Mirages/Delusions,” with a possible connection to the Oceanid boss players can fight in Liyue. Blank was not able to confirm whether the region will be tied to a specific event, like the Golden Apple Archipelago.

The addition of a Water-themed region in Version 3.8 would likely shortly precede the next major region to join the game in Fontaine.Genshin Impact’s fifth major regionwas leaked to be heavily centered around the Hydro element, with the region’s elemental deity being the Hydro Archon. The Oceanid’s in-game lore also revealed the boss to have originated in Fontaine with others of their kind, the “Lochfolk,” also residing in the Hydro region. The launch of the region as a part ofGenshin Impact’s Version 3.8 would place its release date well into 2023.
Genshin Impacthas seen a number of significant future leaks in recent weeks alongside the Penumbra region and the previously mentioned Fontaine information. A major data leak has revealed several futuredesert expansions coming for the Sumeru regionwith previous leaks also hinting at a new village to be added to Liyue.Genshin Impact’s playable roster is projected to grow significantly with new characters like Dehya, Baizhu, and Yaoyao rumored to be coming in future Sumeru patches.
WithGenshin Impact’s playable area continually growing with new patches, HoYoVerse is looking to give players plenty more activities to do in-game. Thepreviously revealed “Genius Invokation TCG” mini-gameis reportedly planned to be coming in the near future, currently rumored to be arriving in Version 3.3.GenshinImpactis also set to add multiple new bosses to the game with a “Sandworm” and “Dendro Dragon” planned for the game in Sumeru’s new regions.Genshin Impactwill look to give players plenty more reasons to dive into the world of Teyvat throughout the coming updates.
