After the release ofGhost of Tsushima: Legends, Sucker Punch has steadily been releasing smaller updates for the multiplayer mode, polishing it as well as adding cosmetics. Recently, an entirely new mode, Rivals, that pitted players against each other was released. Meanwhile, fans of Survival continued waiting for more substantial updates. Not long after therelease of Rivals, however, it was announced Survival would also be getting some love. New content was announced to be dropping to Survival Mode, including the addition of two new maps, one of which has already been released.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legendsis a standalone cooperative multiplayer mode forGhost of Tsushimathat consists of Story and Survival Mode. Prior to the new update, Survival Mode only had four maps, the same four that were originally released with the multiplayer mode back in October 21st, 2020 leading many players to replay the same content for new gear. As a result, fans were reasonably worried about Legends wondering when new content would be released.

Thankfully, the answer is now and soon, as two new maps, Twilight and Ashes, and Blood and Steel were announced for Survival Mode. Twilight and Ashes is already available for players to jump into while Blood and Steel, a map based on Iki Island, will be released October 1st, 2022, just a week after. Both maps are available for free for players that own eitherGhost of Tsushimaor the standaloneGhost of Tsushima: Legends. Players do not have to buy theDirector’s Cut of the gameto play the Iki Island inspired map, Blood and Steel.

Survival Mode essentially has up to four players fighting against waves of enemies that are threatening to destroy different areas of a region. Two new maps, so close to one another is promising for the game mode as it’s bound to bring in old players that might have stopped from the repetitive nature of the original four maps. Although not much is known about Blood and Steel, Twilight and Ashes has already been released and is looking to bea great map for Huntersdue to various vantage points on the map.

The announcement of two new maps for Survival is exciting. Understandably,Ghost of Tsushima: Legendshasn’t had many large updates until recently. After all, it was a free addition toGhost of Tsushimathat didn’t include any microtransactions. Now that Sucker Punch has made it to whereGhost of Tsushima: Legendscan be purchased on its own, it seems as though the developers are looking to start integrating more frequent updates.

Still, seeing as it took almost a year for these two maps to release, it’s reasonable to suspect that new maps after the release of Blood and Steel could take some more time, assuming we get any more maps. If not, Legends also now has the Rivals Mode which is more than likely to continue with updates due to its recent release.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legendsis available now for PS4 and PS5.
