Spoilers ahead for Alan Wake 2’s story.

Alan Wake 2, Remedy Entertainment’s latest release, was embraced as one of the studio’s best works to date. The 2023 sequel to the 2010 original expanded on it in multiple ways, providing an intensely surreal and satisfying survival horror experience while continuing to build its complex narrative along with the greater Remedy Connected Universe.Alan Wake 2introduced more layers to the series' supernatural mysteries and plot, along with some intriguing new characters. Newcomer FBI Agent Saga Anderson’s connection to the otherworldly happenings is revealed to be quite deep, and both she and Alan also run into various figures who seem to know much more about them and their circumstances.

During the course of their investigations, players encounter the charismatic Warlin Door. Apparently able to manipulate reality himself and displaying intimate knowledge beyond both protagonists, there were some strong hints that Door is actually Saga’s missing father. Recently,Fandomwire reported that David Harewood, Mr. Door’s actor, seemed to indicate in an interview that this is indeed the case. While Remedy has not yet actually confirmed it, Harewood’s comments heavily echo clues contained inAlan Wake 2as well as support many fan theories. It’s possible based on this, then, that Remedy was already planning to address the question in the forthcoming DLC on top of other additions to the story; and if it wasn’t, it may need to consider such in light of the above.

Alan Wake 2’s DLC Should Clarify Mr. Door’s Role in the Wake of His Actor’s Recent Interview

Alan Wake 2’s Mysterious Warlin Door

Alan Wake’s eclectic television showshave been a big component of its world and lore since the very beginning, often containing extra exposition or clues that fill in some gaps or shed new light on previous events. In the sequel, fans first encounter the enigmatic Mr. Door when Alan finds himself transported through the shifting dreamworld of the Dark Place as a guest on Warlin’s talk show program. After an initially friendly (but somewhat confusing for Alan) interview, Mr. Door later sternly informs Alan that he is playing with unpredictably volatile forces in his attempts to re-write reality to rectify the situation, and this puts someone extremely important to Door in danger. Reading between the lines, it’s highly likely Warlin is referencing Saga, and is doing all he can to protect her from behind the scenes as she and Alan work together to defeat the Dark Presence and its plans to warp and dominate the world.

Alan Wake 2’s DLC Should Expand or Confirm Mr. Door and Saga’s Relationship

Saga Anderson was central toAlan Wake 2as part of Alan’s plan, and her past history was also fleshed out as the tale unfolded. Returning characters, Tor and Odin Anderson, aka rock band Old Gods of Asgard, were revealed to be related to Saga, being her grandfather and great-uncle respectively, and their insights and abilities aided her and Alan in their battle against the Dark Presence. They vaguely discuss her father with her as well, although don’t outright mention or confirm it is Warlin Door.

However, since Door appears to possess reality transcending powers, something which Alan also seems to gain inAlan Wake 2’s Final Draft ending, this may imply he will be a bigger part of the upcoming DLCs. Mr. Door might reveal that Saga is in fact his daughter, returning to assist Alan further as he seeks to reunite with Saga in the “real world” via aiding the author in continuing to right the aspects of reality that have been distorted by their actions. Whether Remedy is planning to unveil the truth of the matter in the upcoming DLC remains to be seen, but given the situation, it may need to provide this information sooner rather than later, which would surely be welcomed by fans who are awaiting the next chapter ofAlan Wake’s story.
