After almost a decade of rumors and speculation, a live-actionGod of Warseries is officially in the works. Matching reports from the beginning of the year, it’s Amazon that’s finally taken the plunge to produce aGod of Warshow, and it seems like a perfect fit. Though fans were divided on it, Amazon’sLord of Rings: The Rings of Powershow had an impressive production value, and if Amazon applies that totheGod of Waruniverse, then fans could be in for a genuinely great adaptation.
According to Amazon’s official description of itsupcomingGod of WarPrime show, the story will center around Kratos and his son going on a journey to spread his wife’s ashes, seeming to indicate that the show will essentially be a direct adaptation ofGod of War2018. And while the best course of action is to stick as close to the source material as possible, the TV show medium does give the show’s creators more room to explore aspects of the mythos and story fans haven’t seen yet, and some added scenes between Kratos and Faye certainly wouldn’t go amiss.

Amazon’s God of War Should Give Fans More Kratos and Faye
The character of Faye has been shrouded in mystery throughout bothGod of War2018, andits sequelGod of War Ragnarok. In the first game, Faye is only mentioned through dialogue between other characters, and the shared grief between Atreus and Kratos means that she’s rarely a point of discussion. All players find out is that she was somehow able to quell Kratos' unstoppable rage, and that she was a giant from Jotunheim.
InGod of War Ragnarok, players find out a little more about Faye, and her relationship with Kratos, withDeborah Ann Wolleven making an appearance as the character in a series of dream-instigated flashbacks. Players are able to see her character shine through a little more, and see how she was able to lay the groundwork for Kratos to become a changed man and, eventually, a good father. One of the final reveals ofGod of War Ragnarokalso hints that Faye knew much more about her future than fans had previously thought, which adds another layer of complexity and mystery to her character.
While the mystery surrounding Faye makes her more of an ethereal figure in theGod of Warseries, the upcoming Amazon show has the perfect opportunity to showcase Faye and Kratos' relationship just a little more. Though the show is seemingly planning on covering the entireGod of WarNorse saga, and there’s a lot to pack into that, there should still be plenty of runtime left to dive into Kratos' backstory, and a large part of that is his relationship with Faye. It would be great to see more moments of the two working together to build their new life, and more moments of Faye teaching Kratos how to love again.
It would also be great for the AmazonGod of Warshow to highlight Atreus and Faye’s relationship in a bit more detail. While Kratos gets his flashbacks with Faye inGod of War Ragnarok, fans have never gotten to see Atreus interact with his mother properly. Amazon has the perfect opportunity to build on Atreus and Faye’s relationship with itsGod of Warshow, and further reinforce just how much her passing affects him.
