Gorou may be a support unit inGenshin Impact, but he’s the kind that requires specific team compositions to be useful. The Canine Warrior, a Geo bow user, was released inGenshin Impact2.3, along with the one and Oni, Arataki Itto. Considering their simultaneous release, it won’t be surprising that Gorou is a significant support for Itto.

However, while it may be obvious that Arataki Itto is an amazing complement to Gorou, there are other units that can be an excellent match with the General as well. Here are some of the best characters players can put in Gorou’s team.
Geo Characters
Pairing Geo characters with Gorou will amplify the team’s damage when they’re protected by a shield. Furthermore, the Canine Warrior also needs Geo Battery to feed his Elemental Burst. Any of the following Geo characters make good options.
Arataki Itto
Of course, the first character on the list is Arataki Itto. Gorou is practically designed to support this Red Oni. Firstly, he provides a15% Geo DMG Bonus with his Elemental Skill.If players successfully collected six extra Constellations, then Gorou will also grant Geo Crit DMG Bonus. This buff can go as high as 40%, and is excellent for boosting Itto’s abilities.

Other than that, he also gives a DEF bonus to the active character. This makes him an excellent support for offensive Geo units like Itto.
Albedo
Gorou’s DEF buff is only granted to the active character. Luckily, Albedo’s Elemental Skill can snapshot. Snapshotting is a feature by whicha character’s damage will be fixed according to their stat upon casting.
For example, ifAlbedo is buffed by Goroubefore the former uses his Elemental Skill, then the Alchemist’s damage will keep being buffed even after he exits the field. On the contrary, if players use Albedo’s Elemental Skill before buffing him with Gorou, then his damage will not be affected by the bonus. Be sure to use skills in the right order with this pairing.
Noelle
Similar to Arataki Itto, Noelle is also an offensive Geo unit. However, unlike the Oni, she provides a lot more than damage. Noelle has the ability to heal and shield her teammates, making her an excellent support.
If Travelers own C6 Noelle, the Favonius Maid is viable as a main DPS. However, her damage is often seen as underwhelming. This is where Gorou comes in.With the General’s DEF, Geo DMG, and Crit DMG buff,Noelle can become a deadly jack-of-all-trades.
Ningguang
Ningguang may not be the best pair with just Gorou, but she’s an amazing addition to Arataki Itto’s party. Not only will she provide Elemental Particles for Itto, butshe will also be a Battery for Gorou.
Gorou requires 80 Energy to cast his Elemental Burst, yet he only generates 2 Particles every 10 seconds. This is very poor compared to support who usually function in this role. Because of this, Gorou either needs a Battery support or a lot of Energy Recharge.
Zhongli
Zhongli provides effortless access to Geo Resonance. In a Gorou + Arataki Itto composition, the Geo Archon can provide protection for Itto. The Oni will be weaker to damage when his Elemental Burst is active, so Zhongli’s assistance can be crucial.
Meanwhile,Zhongli canprovide extra(although not much) Energy production for Gorou.However, it may be important to note that Gorou’s Skill doesn’t count as a Geo construct, so it won’t resonate with Zhongli’s Stone Stele.
Geo Traveler
The player character (the Traveler) has the ability to change their Element. So far, the protagonist can wield Anemo, Geo, and Electro. Switching one’s Element is as easy as touching the Statue of the Seven of the corresponding region. All versions of the Traveler are useful, but it’s not popular, because it’s clouded by better units. Luckily,when it comes to Geo Battery, Geo Traveler is the best option for the Element.
For Itto, players can opt for Electro Traveler as a Battery. Unfortunately, the same can’t be done for Gorou. An Electro Traveler mostly buffs the active character, while Gorou is mostly off-field.
Aura Applicator
Gorou’s Elemental Burst willpull one Elemental Shard to the active character every 1.5s. This will greatly help players in maintaining Geo Resonance’s effect.
With his second Constellation, when this effect is triggered, his Elemental Burst’s duration will be extended by 1s (up until 3s). So if Travelers wish to utilize this feature, they needcharacters that can apply Aura Elements (Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, and Electro), preferably off-field.Here are some examples.
Raiden Shogun
This unit can grant AOE damage every 0.9 seconds via her Elemental Skill. This will easily apply Electro on the enemies,allowing Geo units like Itto and Gorou to create Elemental Shards(via Crystallized reactions).
However,Raiden Shogun works best with Goroufor her ability torecharge his Energy.In total, she can provide a maximum of 11.5 Energy via her Elemental Burst. Meanwhile, her Skill grants 0.4 Elemental Particle every time it’s triggered.
Xiangling
Similar to Raiden Shogun, Xiangling also offers an amazing off-field Pyro application. Previously, the Liyue Chef also faced Energy problems. However, after the release of the Emblem of Severed Fateartifact inGenshin Impact2.0, Xiangling can now perform her best without Travelers having to worry about her Energy.
Xiangling can be agreat Sub-DPS with anyone. Other than her, players can also opt for units like Xingqiu, who’d provide protection and minor healing with his Hydro Swords.
