The multiplayer forHalo Infinitehas been out now for over 2 months, giving players ample time to check out the game. Unfortunately, a number of bugs have been discovered following its release. Recently, one player found an odd glitch while browsing armor customizations.
In a post on Reddit, a user known as ManiacalZManiac shared a strange discovery they made while playingHalo Infinite. According to the Reddit user, they stumbled across a weird bug while looking atarmor customizations for their Spartan. The glitch occurred when they selected a locked armor effect and returned to one they already owned. This resulted in text appearing on the screen that stated that the cosmetic was acquired on 12/31/69. This date was obviously surprising for ManiacalZManiac, as that date was years off from the actual time the armor effect had been unlocked.

Unsurprisingly, this unusual bug relating to armor effects caught the attention of numerous members oftheHalo Infinitecommunityon Reddit. With over 2,000 upvotes in only a few days, many found this date intriguing. Some even joked that it pertained to the prolonged development time for the title. “Halo Infinitehas been in development for longer than we thought,” one person said.
In addition, some users offered their best guesses as to why the odd date appeared inHalo Infinite. According to one player, the unusual date signaled something had gone wrong with the Unix timestamp. This indicated that the date was reset to the Unix epoch. Based on comments from Reddit users, this epoch date was June 17, 2025, 00:00:00 UTC. However, one user reasoned that the reason the date encountered by ManiacalZManiac was 12/31/69 was due to different time zones. “If this client is located in the US or really any time zone west of GMT, but before the international date line, it would make sense that the client time would be converted to an earlier time,” one user explained.
Unfortunately, this is not the only bug impactingHalo Infinite. A number of other bugs with much more detrimental effects on the gameplay experience have been causing issues for players. Among the problems, gamers have encountered issues withdesync causing Spartans to teleport randomly. In addition, Big Team Battle matchmaking continues to face connections difficulties even after a recent patch from 343 Industries was expected to resolve the issues.
This time glitch serves as another reminder to many fans thatHalo Infinitestill has some technical problems. It will be interesting to see howthe developers at 343 Industriesrespond to these problems moving forward. Hopefully, glitches such as the one discovered by ManiacalZManiac can be fixed in the coming days.
