Civilization 6’s corps provide unique ways to utilize and move troops around, and understanding how they work and how to use them can mean the difference ofwinning a particularly tough battle. to do so, however, there are some requirements which must be met first.

Essentially, corps allow players to combine two units on one space, providing bonuses to both of those units in the process. There are benefits and drawbacks to this technique, so it isn’t always the right choice, but it can be extremely useful in certain situations inCivilization 6.

The actual act of forming the corps is easy, but gaining the ability to do it can be somewhat time consuming. Players will need to research the nationalism civic and make it to the industrial era. After this, players will then be able tomake corps with two units.

Assuming the afore-mentioned requirements are met, players need simply position two of the same type of unit next to each other. In the bottom right corner of the screen, an icon showing two stars will appear. Clicking this will merge the lower experience unit into the higher one. This grants the higher experience unit +10 power and removes any fuel cost associated with the second unit. For example, aTank has 80 power typically, but forming a corps made of two tanks will create a unit with 90 power. Additionally, rather than requiring one oil for each tank (for a total of two oil per round), a tank corp only requires one oil per round.

In general, this will result in lower attack power between the two units, as two sets of 80 power is better than one set of 90, but there are situations when this is helpful. Whensieging cities inCiv 6, for example, players may find themselves with limited open spaces for mounting an assault, so condensing units in this manner can be useful. On the flip side, this does not increase the unit’s HP in any way and cannot be undone, making it a somewhat risky move at the same time.

Later on if the player researches Mobilization, they can then make armies. Armies are functionally identical to corps with the exception that theyallow players to merge three like units. This provides an additional +7 power to the unit, and further reduces the fuel cost associated as three tanks could be run on one fuel per turn.
