ThePokemonfranchise is known for allowing players to catch cute and unique creatures, using those Pokemon to battle their way through all the gym leaders and challengers to become champion of a given region. Something that was rarely criticized was the graphics. BeforePokemon’s6th generation, thegames were strictly 2D, using sprites for the Pokemon, with their move animations being often simplistic representations. Even when thePokemongames shifted over to 3D, they were playable only on the 3DS console.

Now though, mainlinePokemongames are being brought over to the more powerful hybrid Switch console. Allowing for both handheld and traditional play, the Switch was seen by many as a great combination of Nintendo’s handheld and home-based console efforts. WherePokemonis concerned, though, including the newPokemon ScarletandViolet, graphics have become a concern for fans and those looking to pick up the new games on the Switch. Since Gen 8 showed off some graphics that were a disappointment for many, thePokemonfranchise’s graphicshave been under a more watchful eye.

Perhaps as fans look forward toPokemon ScarletandViolet, they can finally see some clear graphical improvements. OnePokemonfan on Reddit, known as Minnale101, has already compiled trailer screenshots fromPokemon ScarletandViolet’strailers, comparing them with existing models from the previousPokemon SwordandShield. The Pokemon featured in the image are Magnemite, Lucario, and Stonjourner. For Magnemite especially, improvements in the reflections of the Steel-type Pokemon can be seen, as it looks less like a model ported in from the handheld 3D titles.

Already fans are hyping themselves up aboutPokemon ScarletandViolet, and graphics seem to be a big reason behind that. Though a newPokemongeneration is exciting for many, to see genuine updates to the titles is also something fans have wanted to see for a while. Even in more recent games, such asPokemon Legends: Arceus, graphics have been a big point of contention, with some believing they matter little in aPokemongame.

There’s more than just graphics to be excited about inPokemon ScarletandViolet, though. Many fans are already picking their favorite new starter, creating fan art and animations in tribute to the cute additions to the franchise. Also, there’s a new region that will be explored, which many believe will beheavily influenced by Spain.

Pokemon ScarletandVioletare scheduled to release in late 2022 for Nintendo Switch.
