JETT: The Far Shoredevelopers Superbrothers and Pine Scented Software have announced plans for a free campaign expansion named Given Time. It’s nearly the one-year anniversary forJETT: The Far Shore’s release on PC andPlayStationconsoles, the first game from Superbrothers since theSuperbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP’s arrival in 2011. There won’t be a long wait before Superbrothers releases something new, it seems, asJETT: The Far Shore’s development is continuing.
Befitting Superbrothers' reputation for strange and beautiful experiences,JETT: The Far Shorereceived a mixed reaction at launch as players weren’t sure what to make of the game. Players inJETTinvestigate a planet, using scanners and tools of traversal to take closer looks at flora and fauna. The story of Mei, her people, and the hymnwave doesn’t appear to be over, though. Superbrothers has more to say and show with the next chapter inJETT’s story.

Given Time will officially launch as a free expansion toJETT: The Far Shorein 2023. The expansion will include an entirely new campaign for the action-adventure game in which Mei’s story will continue, only this time she’ll be pursuing the hymnwave entirely on her own. The story of Given Time will take place three years after theconclusion ofJETT’s base campaign. The trailer for Given Time unfortunately doesn’t reveal any secrets for Given Time, but it does feature some enticing music from scntfc.
With theJETT: The Far Shoreexpansion still a while away from release, Superbrothers has put together something a little more immediate to celebrate the game’s anniversary, too. Available starting October 3, a demo forJETTwill be made available as part of the nextSteam Next Festevent. The demo will includeJETT’s prologue chapter, titled “0.Embark.” It’s unclear if the demo will only be available for the duration of Next Fest or if it will be permanently free to download.
JETTco-creator Craig D. Adams says that the new Given Time campaign will be different than the original in some meaningful ways. He says that players can expect a much more player-driven experience that’s heavy onfree-roaming gameplay. He also says that the team is “getting more out of"JETT’s ecosystem puzzling and light survival systems. And, of course, expect more “cosmic prog rock spectacle in unexpected places.”
Given Time will officially end Mei’s story and, as manyJETTplayers will frustratingly recall, answer several lingering questions left unanswered at the end of the game’s main campaign. With that said, strangeness is at the heart of theJETTaction-adventureexperience and the new campaign will hopefully embrace that. Expect more information going into 2023.
