Exploring The Personality, Takuma Ino

Takuma Ino is a jujutsu sorcerer with a more cheerful attitude than most. He is a grade two sorcerer who could easily become asemi-grade oneif he wants; however, he believes in doing things the right way and wants Kento Nanami’s approval before he moves forward. While Ino is not the smartest or strongest of sorcerers, he is always willing to learn and embraces a leadership role when given to him. In the Shibuya arc, after Gojo Satoru was sealed, Ino, Nanami, and Megumi made their way to Itadori, who announcedGojo’s sealing. On getting there, Nanami left Itadori and Yuuji for Ino to figure out a way to destroy the veil that is keeping sorcerers out of Shibuya. Taking on his leadership role, Ino led the boys, and they found the curse users responsible for setting up the veil. As he battled one of the curse users, Ino showcased his cursed technique—Auspicious Beasts Summon.

Ino’s Cursed Technique: Auspicious Beasts Summon

Ino’s Auspicious Beasts Summon is an innate technique that requires him to cover his face with a mask. After covering his face, Ino then becomes a spiritual medium that can use the abilities of four auspicious beasts, namely Kaichi, Reiki, Kirin, and Ryu. Ino’s technique differs from similar techniques such as curse manipulation or shikigami techniques, as Ino is not able to summon any of the beasts. He can only use their abilities, which manifest in him.

With Kaichi, Ino summons a horn with dark swirling designs. Ino often uses the horn as a projectile for long- to mid-range combat as the projectile is capable of homing in on its target, leaving the target unable to dodge. Acting as a homing missile, the horn leaves a trail of cursed energy in its path until it hits its target. After hitting its target, the horn disappears until it is re-summoned by the user. Apart from the Shibuya arc, Ino was also seen using Kaichi during theNight Parade of a Hundred Demons. There, he used Kaichi to exorcize a large cursed spirit with one blow.

Auspicious Beasts Summon

With Reiki, Ino is able to summon a form of cursed water that can be used to cover all parts of his body. He then uses it to glide across surfaces, reducing friction and increasing his mobility. This allows him to effectively dodge attacks while he lands powerful blows of his own. Ino’s Kirin ability, the third of his Auspicious Beasts, nullifies his sense of pain. It is effectively something like intracerebral doping, but the technique also drains his stamina, and Ino has not yet utilized this technique in theJujutsu Kaisenanime series. As for Ryu, little is known about it, as his mask was quickly taken off by Granny Ogami’s grandson, who had now shapeshifted into Toji Fushiguro when he tried to use the technique.

Usage

So far, the only time Ino’s cursed technique has been shown in use in theJujutsu Kaisenanime series isin the Shibuya arc. There, Ino used his technique against Granny Ogami’s grandson. After activating his technique by putting on a mask, Ino’s entire body was coated in surging cursed energy. He then proceeded to use the abilities of one of the four auspicious beasts, Kaichi. Using Kaichi, Ino used the summoned horn as a projectile. Afterward, he used Reiki to coat his body in cursed water, giving him more mobility. Using Reiki, Ino then engaged with Granny Ogami’s grandson in close-quarters combat, where he overwhelmed his opponent. The other Auspicious Beasts, Kirin, and Ryu, have not yet been utilized by Ino in the anime series.

Drawbacks

Some cursed techniques, such asInumaki’s cursed speech, tend to have drawbacks and limitations, and Ino’s technique is one of them. When facing Granny Ogami’s grandson, who now had Toji Fushiguro’s body and physical prowess, Ino was quickly rendered immobile. Granny Ogami’s grandson stopped him from being able to utilize his cursed technique by taking off his mask. As his mask is a prerequisite for activating his cursed technique, Ino was left unable to do anything. So far, Ino’s cursed technique has one of the biggest disadvantages seen so far. As his mask is very visible and can easily be taken off should one get close enough, Ino’s technique can easily be negated. However, like most things in theJujutsu Kaisenseries, the higher the risk, the greater the reward.
