What is ‘Wavelengths’?

Life is Strange: Wavelengthsis an extra DLC episode forthe upcoming gameTrue Colors. In this bonus episode, players will take control of Steph Gingrich and get to know her character even better than before.Wavelengthswill take place a year before Alex shows up in Haven Springs, but will still release afterLiS: True Colors. As far as what gameplay will look like, players can count on getting to know the KRCT radio station and Rocky Mountain Record Traders store through the eyes of Steph.

What Players Can Expect From ‘Wavelengths’

Fans will remember that Steph was the GM for aDungeons and Dragons-esque tabletop game that Chloe canparticipate in duringBefore the Storm. Though it won’t be the exact same setup, players will see Steph reprise her role as GM when playing throughWavelengths. There’s also mention of her reconnecting with an “old friend,” so it’s possible that Mikey could make a small cameo in the bonus episode. Chloe could also appear, but that would mean one ending ofLiSis considered canon over the other.

The reveal trailer also shows Steph having a prominent role in the music scene, which players will get an in-depth look at duringWavelengths. They can look forward to being a DJ for the local radio station as well as exploring the record store and even helping Stephwrite an original song. According to the description, the record store will change appearance with the seasons and as Steph’s personality begins to shine through, so players will seemingly always have something new to discover.

Perhaps most important is Steph’s connection to music, which will be showcased with a different soundtrack compared toTrue Colors.Wavelengthswill feature music from Girl in Red, Hayley Kiyoko, Alt-J, and other artists to help set the tone of Steph’s journey. Players can also look forward to swiping through Steph’s dating app and getting inside her head as she reminisces aboutdifferent Pride celebrations she’s attendedthrough the years. There’s no word about what the dating app matches will mean in terms of gameplay, but it will be interesting to see how they play out duringWavelengths.
