Summary
The upcomingLike a Dragon: Infinite Wealthmight have its new game plus feature locked behind paid DLC, according to one of Sega’s official websites for the game. The eighth entry in the long-running franchise will be releasing early next year, where fans will get the chance to follow the adventures of Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu as they explore the tropics of Hawaii. Fans received tons of new information regardingLike a Dragon: Infinite Wealththrough the recent RGG Summit, which included two extensive gameplay and story trailers.
These trailers went over what to expect, such as the new setting, why Ichiban went to Hawaii in the first place, and even aheartbreaking revelation regarding Kiryu’s character inInfinite Wealth. One thing that was also highlighted in the gameplay trailer and the RGG Direct presentation were some pre-order bonuses, such as the Hero’s Booster Pack and Special Jobs pack. After these trailers,Infinite Wealthreleased a series of pre-order options, including a Digital Deluxe and Digital Complete Edition, which bundles some extra DLC that can be accessed. One of the listings for these editions details what’s included, including how the New Game Plus mode would be locked behind this DLC.

On one ofLike a Dragon: Infinite Wealth’s websites, specifically the English Asia region, it lists the details of the Digital Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition, which will provide players with the Masters Vacation Pack. This pack describes how players can useInfinite Wealth’s clear data in order to access itsNew Game Plus mode, along with special outfits and content available in this DLC. The wording on this listing implies that players can only use New Game Plus if they buy this DLC, which upset a lot of fans online.
These details about the Masters Vacation Pack are only available on this regional version of the website, as other pages from the game’s Western site do not list these features. This isn’t the first time that the series has gone this route, either, as the seventh game’s release also made New Game Plus DLC despite the feature being included for free in every game in the series. Thewestern version ofYakuza: Like a Dragonfixed this to have New Game Plus included in the base game from the start, though it remains to be seen if this will happen again.
As of this writing, it’s unclear if this New Game Plus feature will be added intothe base game ofInfinite Wealthfor its western release, or if this feature will be DLC in all regions. Fans are hoping that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio can clear up these details, and that this feature won’t be gated behind a paywall.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealthwill launch on July 06, 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
