There are some time travel stories where the rules aren’t properly laid out and nothing seems logical. In contrast,Looperhas been praised for its well-developed characters, strong performances, and sophisticated approach to time travel.Looperis an entertaining thrill ride. What Happens In Looper?

Looperis about Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a criminal syndicate who is living in 2044. Joe becomes caught up in a dangerous game when he helps his friend Seth (Paul Dano) try to avoid detection because Seth was supposed to die and he didn’t. The main premise of the movie is that when “loopers” are still alive in 2074, they have to go back in time and kill these younger versions of themselves. While Bruce Willis starred in thetime travel thrillerSurrogatesand has an impressive resume, he was great as Old Joe. The scenes of both Joes together are a lot of fun to watch.

ThroughoutLooper, Joe kills the older version of himself and is always caught up in this terrifying and chaotic world.Gordon-Levitt said Joe was his favorite characterwhom he has ever portrayed in a movie, which is fascinating and makes perfect sense. Joe is a kind person who wants to be there for his friend. But he also is a trained assassin and he feels that he must be loyal to his boss Abe (Jeff Daniels).

Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Looper

While sometimes there arestrange time travel machinesin these types of films,Looperdoesn’t do anything fancy and, instead, focuses on Joe’s journey. This makes it a more relatable story and enables audiences to focus on Joe and what he needs to do. He definitely makes some tough decisions throughout the movie and it always feels like he has been put in an impossible situation, which adds a perfect amount of tension.

In a 2012 interview withNPR, director Rian Johnson described Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s protagonist. Johnson talked about a classic movie that he was thinking about and said, “Our main character, Joe, much like a movie I looked to for inspiration was Casablanca, much like Rick in Casablanca, he’s beginning the movie in a very kind of isolated, self-serving place. And it made sense, much like in Casablanca, to build a world around him where you saw that that kind of selfishness didn’t come from him being a bad person, but was because he has to exist in this world.”

What Happens At The End Of Looper?

TheLooperending finds Joe in a tough spot. He tries to disappear at a farm and falls in love with Sara (Emily Blunt). Sara is more interesting than many small love interest characters because she is telekinetic. The most pressing problem is that Cid (Pierce Gagnon) could turn into a Mob boss called The Rainmaker. Joe knows that this can’t happen and has to figure out a plan and fast.

Looperis asci-fi movie that gets time travel rightand that can be seen clearly in the ending. Everything happens quickly after this point. Cid murders Jesse (Garret Dillahunt) and the villain Kid Blue (Noah Segan) captures Old Joe because Abe wants to see him.

Both Old Joe and Joe do what they have to in order to survive here. Old Joe murders Abe and the people who work for him. Joe then murders Kid Blue. Joe wants to save Sara from being murdered by Old Joe. He knows that he has to stop Cid from turning into the Rainmaker. Like thebest sci-fi movies that involve time travel,Looperexplains the rules clearly from the beginning and everything makes sense. Whether Joe is thinking carefully about the younger or older version of himself, he wants to stop bad things from happening. That makes him relatable, even though he’s part of a world that is tricky to imagine.

At this point, theLooperending becomes tragic and heartbreaking because Joe takes his own life. He wants to make sure that Sara survives and that Old Joe never lived. While this is upsetting,Looperpresents a scary world from the very first scene, and Joe knew that it would be very difficult for him to survive. Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s performance as Joe is gripping and powers the entire movie, making it one to remember.
