Summary
A major leak recently revealed that the highly-anticipated horror gameSlitterheadis set to launch on November 8. The release of this title being only a few months away will likely excite manySilent Hillfans, as Keiichiro Toyama, the creator of Konami’s classic franchise, has been leadingSlitterhead’s development alongside his team at Bokeh Game Studio for several years.
Months before the closure of PlayStation’s Japan Studio,Gravity Rush,Siren, andSilent Hilldirector Keiichiro Toyama left Sony Interactive Entertainment to establish his own development team in Tokyo, Japan. After a year or so, Toyama shared some information on the first project of his newly-founded company, Bokeh Game Studio, at The Game Awards 2021 and revealed that it was going to bea bizarre horror game namedSlitterhead. Outside of some details shared in AMAs and behind-the-scenes YouTube videos, news on the upcoming title has been rather scarce for several years. Fortunately, that’s about to change in the immediate future, as Bokeh Game Studio recently announced that a secondSlitterheadtrailer is about to air soon. However, it looks like some information from the video has leaked in advance, courtesy of a post on social media.
The Twitter user Wario64 captured screenshots of a leaked trailer forSlitterheadthat reveals that Bokeh Game Studio’s debut title is set to release on August 04, 2025, for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. The link that Wario64 provided for the trailer in their tweet is currently inaccessible because, at the time of writing, it redirects to a private YouTube video. Judging from this, it appears that Bokeh Game Studio accidentally uploaded the new trailer forSlitterheadon YouTube hours before it was supposed to go live during Summer Game Fest 2024. After all, SGF host Geoff Keighley recently confirmed thatSlitterheadis slated to get a gameplay revealduring the showcase later today.
Based off of this leaked release date, it seemsSlitterheadwill have plenty of time to shine when it launches in November of this year, as the upcoming horror title is coming out in a month that’s rather light on major game releases, at least for now. Currently, the only big title scheduled to launch in November is theJapan-set video gameAssassin’s Creed Shadows. Meanwhile, official confirmations aside, the few titles rumored to release in that month are Obsidian’sAvowedand Asobo Studio’sMicrosoft Flight Simulator 2024. Obviously, none of these three games have anything in common withSlitterheadgenre-wise, so unless something changes, Bokeh Game Studio’s debut title likely won’t have much competition when it releases in November.
It Looks Like Gamers Won’t Have to Wait Too Long To Play Slitterhead
Fortunately, fans of Keiichiro Toyama won’t have to wait too long to get their hands on theSilent Hillcreator’s next game. Nonetheless, those who are impatiently anticipating the title’s November launch cantry out other horror games beforeSlitterheadin the meantime, like theSilent Hill 2remake, which releases a month earlier in October.
