He revealed in a recent interview with ComicBook.com’s Phase Zero podcast that he had to convince the writing team after the first film that Falcon should be just as prioritized as a character. Moore said, “When I was a kid, I had a bunch ofCaptain America and Falcon comics. I knew Captain America as Captain America and Falcon more than I knew him as an individual.” Although the film has been officially confirmed, the details surrounding the upcomingCaptain America 4have been kept mostly under wraps. Yet, Moore has recently shared some behind-the-scenes conversations that were crucial to the film creating its own sense of creative autonomy outside of what the franchise has done in the past. Since Moore worked onThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier, he played a part in casting Mackie for the role in the Disney Plus series.

Mackie having taken over the reins asthe MCU’s Captain Americawill result in the fourth film being instantaneously different from the previous three films. The only main detail that has been confirmed surroundingCaptain America 4is that Anthony Mackie will without a doubt be the solo lead of the film. However, Moore firmly believes that it’s Mackie’s new presence in the film that will give him a slight edge with the audience and die-hard fans.

Moore stated, “I think he’s not Steve Rogers and I think that’s a good thing, because, to me, this new Cap is Rocky. He’s going to be the underdog in any situation. He’s not a super-soldier. He’s not a hundred years old. He doesn’t have the Avengers. What happens with this guy who announces publicly kind of, without the support, ‘I’m new Captain America -’ what happens next? I think it is fascinating because he’s a guy. He’s a guy with wings and a shield, but he is a guy. So, we’re going to put him through the wringer and make him earn it, and see what happens when he is outweighed, outclassed, out-everything. What makes somebody Captain America? I’m going to argue it’s not being a super soldier, and I think we’re going to prove that with Mackie and Sam Wilson."

Captain America 4was first announcedalmost as soon asThe Falcon and the Winter Soldierended. So fans have already been waiting a long time to see Mackie’s Captain America get his own solo film, but Moore’s comments certainly make it sound like the anticipation will be worthwhile.
