Miles Morales is a lot different than the OG Spider-Man, Peter Parker. Miles is a boy genius, like Parker, and he wants to do what’s right for those around him. However, he’s not afraid to question morality. Should he forgive criminals? What would be so bad if they weren’t around anymore? Is he good enough to take on the role of Spider-Man?
Those arethe feelings Milesdeals with inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. How does he come out? Well, those who have played the game know that answer. From funny things to courageous things, here are some great quotes from Miles.

8“I Have Sand Everywhere.”
Mission: Surface Tension
This is the first mission ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 2and it involves the two Spider-Man heroes taking down Sandman. It’s a prolonged mission and an epic way to begin any action game. After the two finally take down Sandman, they dive into the bay and Miles remarks that he still feels sand everywhere which is odd given the water.
It would have been great if this was brought up throughout the game like the two characters are still shaking out sand, but the joke ends here. Where do they go to dry clean their suits anyway?

7“I’m Trying To Sulk Over Here.”
Mission: Not On My Watch
Another great mission is “Not On My Watch” which is whenKraven’s men invade the city inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. Kraven is attacking innocent people while trying to break villains like Scorpion and Mr. Negative free. He doesn’t want to team up with them to form some sort of villainous boy band either.
Kraven just wants to hunt them for sport. Given his ties to Mr. Negative, Miles is bummed he couldn’t save him. Peter tries to cheer him up which is when Miles says this line while also getting out of his funk. He knows Peter means well.

6“Don’t Gimme That Look Pops, I’m Only Taking A Break.”
Mission: Amends
Miles is going through a lot as a character in the game. He’s upset about Mr. Negative getting taken along with his feelings toward him. Miles is not sure if he is right to be Spider-Man. As he sulks in the kitchen alone, he sees his dad’s picture and responds to it.
That’s all he really wants in life. His dad’s approval and he struggles with wanting to tear Mr. Negative apart because he knows revenge is not what his father would want. Luckily, Miles can look toward another male family member during this mission, Uncle Aaron, who just got out of prison and is hanging up the towel as The Prowler. Also, he has the support of his mom, Rio.

5“You Always Have A Choice.”
Mission: No Escape
The theme of choice is a close one for Miles in bothMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Moralesand the animated movies like the latest edition,Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. While fighting Mr. Negative in the ring, he tells Miles he did those terrible things as he didn’t have a choice.
Miles is not buying this lie partly because Peter taught him about choice and partly because Miles is angry at Mr. Negative. Talking aside, this boss fight againstMr. Negative is a wild one inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. It’s where Miles is finally able to deal with the overload of being a Spider-Man with a trip into Mr. Negative’s world.

4“You’re Stronger Than Some Suit Pete, Don’t Listen To It.”
Mission: Anything Can Be Broken
The title of this mission “Anything Can Be Broken” is a reference to the direct line Kraven says to Peter after he traps him in a cage. Kraven knows that Peter has a no-kill code, but also understands that a man can do anything if he is pushed to the edge.
In this state, Peter is at the breaking point thanks to theBlack Suit he acquired inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2which is technically venom. Players have to fight Kraven as Peter but then when Peter is about to kill Kraven, Miles steps in. In the fight against Peter, Miles assures him that he is stronger than any suit which is a sentimental but true statement.

3“You Were 8.”
Mission: Trouble With Harry
Shortly after this, the Venom symbiotetakes over Harry instead. Using his powers, Harry takes over New York City and spreads the symbiote to everyone via hive nests. It turns normal citizens into enemies temporarily, creating some wild encounters late in the game.
In one of these hives, Miles’ friend Genke and his mom get trapped in a subway. After he gets rescued, Genke confesses a lot of weird things he slighted Miles on over the years. Miles naturally forgives Genke as they were just kids which is both cute and funny.

2“I Won’t Forgive You, It’s Just Not In Me.”
Mission: Set Things Right
In the arena fight against Mr. Negative, Miles cools off a lot of the evil feelings he has toward him. This is healed even more after Mr. Negative, as the reformed Martin Li, helps Miles save Peter from the brink of destruction. While Miles cannot forgive Martin, he at least thanks him for saving Peter.
Miles knows that the anger is too much to bear which is exactly what Peter went through with the Black Suit. If there is one core theme ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, it’s that toxic feelings need to be let go otherwise they can manifest into a Venom-like creature.

1“I Can Handle It.”
Mission: Together
The final mission that players will go through is called “Free At Last” which is an epic boss fight against Venom who has multiple phases. It’s one of thehardest boss gauntlets inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. There is an epilogue after this called “Together” which shows Peter setting up a new foundation in his garage.
Through an awkward conversation, he hands the torch metaphorically to Miles who says he can handle the pressure of being the one and only Spider-Man. Will Miles truly be alone in the sequel or will he get a new partner?
