According to a new leak, the unannouncedMetal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 2will consist ofMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots,Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, andMetal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. TheMetal Gear Solidseries has been dormant for years, but Konami is bringing it back in a big way.

Konami started itsMetal Gear Solidcomeback tour with two big reveals at the PlayStation showcase event last month. At the show, it was confirmed that originalMetal Gear Solidtrilogy was being collected together asMetal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1, and that afull-blown remake ofMetal Gear Solid 3was in development as well. Of course, the use of “Vol. 1” in the title of the collection suggested that Konami was planning to release a second collection, and a new leak may reveal the first details about what that collection will entail.

PS3 exclusiveMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots,PSP gameMetal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, andMetal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Painare expected to be part ofMetal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 2, according to a leak through Konami’s website. IGN said that it “understands” that the leaked list is “accurate,” so it seemsMetal Gear Solidfans can look forward to reliving these classic games at some point after Vol. 1 is released on October 24.

Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 2 Games List

If this information is accurate, it’s huge for theMetal Gear Solidfranchise. After all,Metal Gear Solid 4has been trapped on the PS3for well over a decade now, and so being able to play the critically-acclaimed game on modern platforms is going to be a big deal. The demand for aMetal Gear Solid 4port is significant enough that such a project could likely stand on its own, but it’s great for fans that it’s apparently going to be bundled together with the belovedPeace WalkerandMetal Gear Solid 5.

It’s possible that the collection could have even more games included as well, but that remains to be seen.Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1features two bonus gamesin the form ofMetal GearandMetal Gear 2: Solid Snake, so maybe the second collection will also have bonus games. Possibilities would includeMetal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, theMetal Gear Acidgames,Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, or the non-canonSnake’s RevengeandMetal Gear: Ghost Babel.

Then again, Konami might want to produce a third collection that could include those spin-off games and perhaps even addedMetal Gear Rising: Revengeanceto the mix. But before fans start speculating too much about a potential third collection ofMetal Geargames, they have the first collection to look forward to on October 24 and it seems a second collection to check out with some heavy hitters hopefully not too long after that.
