The season of game announcements is in full swing, with the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase recently taking place. In addition to this exciting presentation, Capcom is getting in on the action. Recently, the video game company gave fans a look at several games and DLC coming in the future, including an update ontheMonster Hunterseries, specificallyMonster Hunter Rise.

TheMonster Hunterseries is amongCapcom’s most successful video game series. First started in 2004 with the originalMonster Huntertitle, the franchise has gone on to feature numerous titles, including some for handheld devices. One of the most recent installments in the series isMonster Hunter Rise, which was released for the Switch in 2021. Recently, fans learned more about a major expansion coming to the title in only a couple of weeks.

During theCapcom Showcase, fans had the chance to see a new look atMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. In the roughly three-minute-long trailer, several details about the upcoming expansion for the game were mentioned. Of particular interest were the monsters coming to the game. As the name of the franchise suggests, monsters are one of the biggest appeals of the titles for many, and it appears that the developers have gone out of their way to ensure thatMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakdoes not disappoint in that area. Some of the monsters seen in the presentation included Great Izuchu, Tetranadon, Malzeno, and Astalos

In addition, Espinas was announced as a new monster for the game that was originally part of theMonster Hunter Frontiersseries. According to the video, this beast is covered with a thick hide lined with thorny scales. Furthermore, the monster known as Gore Magala fromMonster Hunter 4was also confirmed to be coming. As if these weren’t enough, the crab-like Daimyo Hermitaur and Pyre Rakna-Kadaki were seen, along with another beast that appeared to shoot webs. Beyond this, the developer noted that even more monsters were yet to be revealed for theSunbreakexpansion.

In addition to showing off a number of terrifying monsters, the latest trailer for the expansion revealed that a classic Jungle region was coming toMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Furthermore, an upcoming demo was announced for those excited to jump into the monster-slaying action. While theSunbreakexpansion does not drop until Jul 27, 2025, for PC and Switch users, the demo will release on June 14.

While this news regardingMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakis likely exciting for numerous members of theMonster Huntercommunity, it is not the only news to come out of the Capcom Showcase. Beyond theMonster Hunterfranchise, the company revealed new details about the popularResident Evilseries, including a brief look at gameplay for thehighly-anticipatedResident Evil 4Remake. With a number of projects in the works at the company, now seems to be an exciting time to be a fan of Capcom.
