The following contains spoilers forMy Hero AcademiaChapter 393, “A Girl’s Ego,” by Kohei Horikoshi, translated by Caleb Cook available in English fromViz Media.

My Hero Academia finally returned this week with an incredible chapter, most certainly the best that the fans have seen in the fight between Toga and Uraraka. This fight has been excellent and while the action might be a bit lacking, the emotional punch that it carries certainly makes up for that.

Fans have been waiting for this fight to reach its climax and for Horikoshi to deliver the main chapter that sees the conflict between these two characters wrap up.My Hero Academiachapter 393 did just that and, for the most part, the fight between the Toga and Urarakais now over.

Villain Names

Previously, fans saw Toga’s small flashback which focused on Jin asking her to pick a Villain name. In My Hero Academia chapter 393, fans saw a continuation of this flashback where Toga speaks with the members of the League of Villains. The subject of the conversation appears to be a Villain and Hero names and a point is made by the members of the League of Villains, stating that Shigaraki and Toga are the only ones without villain names. While they make suggestions for Toga to pick one, she reveals that she doesn’t want one. She ran away from her old life because she wanted to live as she is and if she were to hide behind a name, then it defeats the purpose that she wants to serve in the first place.

Shigaraki also holds a very similar belief. Furthermore,Shigaraki also goes on to statethat the concept of Hero and Villain names came up to preserve the identities of these people. In doing so, ironically, they started bringing comic books to life. Prior to these names, there was no way to figure out whether a person with Quirks was on the good side or the bad. However, when the idea of taking names was brought forward, both Heroes and Villains embraced it wholeheartedly.

Regardless, Toga decides that she doesn’t want a name and the fact that Shigaraki wants to live his life as he is only bolsters her belief that League of Villains is the right place for her. It is clear to see that Toga holds very fond memories of her time with the League of Villains and she adores every single one of them. The fact that quite a lot of them simply aren’t there to share her joy anymore just fuels her anger even more, and solidifies her conviction at the same time.

Toga’s Rage

All her memories only go on to fuel her rage inMy Hero Academiachapter 393. She unleashes powerful attacks after powerful attacks on Uraraka and, as the latter was already injured in the previous chapter, fans get to see her on her last legs. Nonetheless, Uraraka continues to fight Toga and tries to make an effort to reach the bottom of her heart. To Toga, however, it seems like she’s being pitied. With that, Toga launches a powerful attack, believed to be her strongest, named Sad Man’s Legion.

This technique appears to be the size of a mountain and allows her to create many clones, all of which take on the appearances of different people strong enough to destroy a nation, by the looks of it. When it appears that all is lost, Uraraka manages to pull through and speak kind words that make Toga shake. She tells her that she doesn’t pity her but she envies her. She mentions to Toga that she has a very pretty smile and that she shouldn’t try to hide it. Even though she has done terrible things that she simply cannot forgive, Uraraka wants Toga to know that if there is anything that she wants to share with her and talk about, she is there for her and she is not going to abandon her or do anything to her that will take away her smile. Fans see Uraraka’s kindness reach Toga’s heart in My Hero Academia chapter 393 and she starts to falter.

Uraraka’s Quirk Awakening

Toga’s powers were revealed to be incredibly dangerous inMy Hero Academiachapter 393. Because of her ability, it appeared that the war was lost and the Quirk Doomsday was finally here. However, it was Uraraka who saved the day as her Quirk awakened at the very last moment.

While many believe that her Quirk was useless, Uraraka’s awakening flips the script entirely, and now, she is one of the strongest characters in the entire series. Her Quirk Awakening allowed her to destroySad Man’s Legion all by herself, by making every single one of the bodies, which combined into a mountain-sized pile, float into the air.

What’s even more surprising is that she can make anyone float without even touching them now, and this is an incredibly dangerous power. In a way, it is quite similar to Shigaraki’s Decay which he can send to other people without even making direct contact with them after his Awakening. Similarly, Uraraka can make things float without even touching them now, and, if she so wishes, she can send them crashing down, destroying them in the process. However, she believes that her gravitational powers are not meant to hurt. InMy Hero Academia393, she only makes the clones levitate and, she takes that time to speak her heart out to Toga.

The Final Conversation

It appears thatMy Hero Academiachapter 394 will be the last one featuring Toga and Uraraka. A conversation between these two characters will likely wrap up the conflict between them and, as seen in this chapter, Uraraka is trying her best to see that come to fruition. After making all the clones float in the air, Uraraka offered her help to Toga once again, not out of envy or ego but simply because she wants her to smile once again. She believes that Toga has a very beautiful smile that should not be hidden. This was drawn in contrast in the chapter to Toga’s parents, who called her a deviant and an abomination for having a smile like that.

Naturally, this brought even Toga to tears and it looks likeshe is willing to accept what Uraraka has to offer.Uraraka does not want her to hide behind fake emotions and, most importantly, she wants to share feelings of love and romance with her. Once again, Uraraka offers her a chance to talk about romance and that is precisely whereMy Hero Academiachapter 393 accomplished. Fans also get to see a flashback of them as kids, which was a very heartwarming touch on Horikoshi’s behalf. It looks like Uraraka has finally managed for her feelings to reach Toga and, from here onwards, the conflict will finally wrap up through a truthful conversation. Which way it will go remains to be seen and that question can only be answered inMy Hero Academiachapter 394.
