Summary
My Hero Academiachapter 423 is officially out and fans finally got to witness the conclusion of the last war of the series. Of course, there is still post-war stuff to come, but the biggest battle thatMy Hero Academiahas ever seen has now officially wrapped up. This chapter was going to focus onthe fight between Deku and All For One, and it certainly delivered in some ways, while disappointing a lot of the fans and others.
It can be said that this chapter proved to be the most divisive onein the entirety of the Final War Saga, with many fans being utterly shocked at the conclusion that the author served up, while others praised it for hitting the right tones in many ways.

All For One Vs One For All
The Fates Battle Of Brothers Concluded In My Hero Academia 423
My Hero Academiachapter 423 was always going to be a battle between One For All and All For One. This was quite evident after last week’s chapter, which saw all the students of 1A, as well as the other Heroes, opening up a path for Deku. In the last panel of the chapter, Deku was right in front of All For One, ready to deliver a powerful blow to him. At the same time, the editor of My Hero Academia called it the very, very, very, very climax of the battle, which only meant one thing and that was the Final War wrapping up.My Hero Academiachapter 423 delivered just that, and fans got to witness the conclusion of the war in a very melancholic manner. The chapter picked up right from where the last one left off, with Deku delivering a powerful blow to All For One.
It’s time to pay the price for exploiting all for yourself!!

The punch connected right with his gut, and, surprisingly,All For One was not able to tank it.Usually, All For One has abilities such as super regeneration and general sturdiness to pull through such attacks. However, in this chapter, he noticed that his super regeneration was not working at all. Because of Deku’s punch, he started crumbling from the inside, and this would have marked the end of the war right there and then. However, All For One was incredibly resolute and pulled through with sheer willpower. That is precisely what he did and his body started to reassemble again to a certain degree. At the very least, he stopped the crumbling process. Deku, who was falling at this point, would have hit the floor and the battle could have gone All For One’s way.
Clearly, the villain was not ready to accept his fall and wanted to start the process all over, by transferring All For One to Deku, and then rebirthing once again. However, that is precisely where characters such as Shirakumo and Bakugo took center stage. Shirakumo wanted to protect Shigaraki from All For One, because that was his order as Kurogiri. At the same time, Bakugo wouldn’t let Deku hit the floor and fall in front of the greatest challenge that he faced. Shirakumo used the power of Warpgate and helped Deku get to All For One once again, while Bakugo propelled him through it.

With that, Deku was able to deliver yet another powerful blow to the greatest villain of all time, and this time, the blow was significant enough for All For One to crumble. This was the final attack of this war, and with this single punch, all for one crumbled away.
Shigaraki And Vestiges Pull Through
Shigaraki And Helped Kill All For One
My Hero Academia chapter 423 also gave fans a glimpse of All For One in a different plane of existence. Here, the final embers of the One For All that Deku transferred to him took the form of Yoichi. This was the last bit of Yoichi that was left and All For One tried desperately to cling to it. All For One declared his selfish love for Yoichi, and at the same time, demanded that he stay with him forever. In the end, All For One was a pathetic lonely man with nothing else to look forward to, and his endless pursuit of his brother led him to do all sorts of maniacal things and harm many along the way.
Yoichi, on the other hand, recognized All For One for what he truly was, and told him that it was time for him to pay for his crimes. Yoichi was there to verify of it, and at the same time, he wasn’t alone and had the other vestiges with him. All of them clung to All For One and made sure that he no longer bothered the people of the world, and that he paid for his crimes by disintegrating into dust. At the same time, Shigaraki also pulled through and fought back against All For One. It was revealed that Nana helped him get his body back, and that, now, he was essentially free from the grasp of All For One, who had groomed him and manipulated him right from the get-go. Shigaraki never truly had freedom, but in this small moment, he finally felt free for the very first time.
The End Of The War
The War Ended With Shigaraki’s Death
The end of the war inMy Hero Academiacamewhen Deku and Shigaraki had a heartfelt conversation. While this conversation was certainly one that fans had expected, it did not go the way they wanted it to. This conversation was bizarrely short, and simply wrapped up in two pages. Even side villains, such as Toga, got a bigger conclusion and that has left the fans perplexed. Furthermore, the way this conclusion played out was even more disappointing for the fans.
If Spinner survived, tell him this, “Shigaraki Tomura fought until the very end to destroy”
Essentially, Shigaraki recognized that he was not going to stay alive anymore. He crumbled into dust, along with All For One and before he did so, he called himself a failure. At the same time, he acknowledged Deku for standing on his word and doing what he claimed that he would do. Deku, meanwhile, mentioned that he only stopped Shigaraki because he wanted to be stopped, and that he raised his fist because he could not forgive what Shigaraki had done.
However, all of Deku’spromises of saving Shigarakiwent out the window because, in the end, it was through his fist that he ended up dying. This is something that the fans absolutely cannot wrap their heads around, especially after seeing a very sad flashback of Shigaraki Tomura. Fans saw how he was set up for failure right from the beginning and that All For One was already meddling with his life from the moment when he was born. Shigaraki never had true freedom and was manipulated into doing things that he did, and essentially, a character like him should have gotten a second shot at life.
Shigaraki’s last words to Deku asked him tofind Spinner, if he is still alive, and tell him that he fought until the very end, and, with that, he crumbled away into dust, with the sun beaming down on Deku announcing himself to the entire world. It is somewhat ironic that Deku’s biggest moment in the entire series is killing the one person that he wanted to save, and this moment being portrayed as a heroic moment instead of being marked with the failure that it is, in a way.
From here onwards, fans do not know how the series will progress, but if that truly was Shigaraki’s conclusion, then it was certainly a very disappointing one that has left a sour taste in the mouths of all fans.
