So far, not much has been shown in terms of gameplay for this year’sNBA 2K21. The game has been talked about recently, but that’s because publisher 2K announced three different versions of the game and confirmed that thenext-gen releases for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be more expensivethan the current-gen versions, which sparked complaints from some fans.
Today, though, we finally got a gameplay trailer forNBA 2K21. Though it is incredibly brief, it is the first piece of in-game footage that we’ve seen and it looks to be exactly what fans expect/want, with it also featuring some notable basketball stars like Damien Lillard, LeBron James, and the late Kobe Bryant, who is also thecover star for the game’s Mamba Forever edition.

Fans have appeared to gleam some interesting details from the small snippets of footage we have. Firstly, there appears to be a brand new shot meter, which could indicate some reworked features, though some fans aren’t fond of how small it is, with it barely appearing above players' heads.
There is a very quick shot ofNBA 2K21’s Neighborhood, a social area that was part of previous entries, and eagle-eyed viewers will notice that it appears to be called 2K Beach. It returning at all could be enough to make some fans happy, but it is hoped that this iteration of it will have undergone some changes compared to the last one.
One thing that may disappoint fans, though, is that the gameplay is of the current-gen versions of the game, meaning we still have no clue how the next-gen release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will look and run. While we can’t image it will play much differently to the current-gen versions, there could potentially be exclusive features and it’s at least expected to run have better performance and visuals.
The trailer’s release still appears to have gone down well with most fans, with the YouTube likes far outweighing the dislikes, but some of the top comments show that not everyone is pleased. Several users have made complaints about how it looks no different to the previous entry and, at the time of writing, one of the top comments makes reference tothe MyTeam feature and howNBA 2K20’s version was criticized for being like gambling.
NBA 2K21will release for Android, iOS, PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X later this year.
