As theHaloseries’ premiere approaches, new footage is being released by Paramount Plus that’s beginning to shop a bit more of what Master Chief’s live action missions will look like, with the latest being a second full-lengthHalotrailer dropped right after the ongoing SXSW conference.
SXSW 2022 has already featured several gaming powerhouses,including former Nintendo of America chief Reggie Fils-Aime, so with theHaloTV series being such an anticipated show, it was bound to make an appearance there too. However,Haloshowed up in style as attendees were surprised by a meticulously choreographed drone flight involving 400 machines taking flight to display a QR a code leading to the show’s trailer.

As for the new preview, the 2-minute trailer features newcomer character Kwan Ha Boo (Yerin Ha) quite heavily, although perhaps some of the action sequences teased in it will be the main eyecatcher for many. Also crucially being shown here is one of the Covenant Prophets whose main design had been leaked years ago, as well as the already seen Arbiter elite, and some of the other Spartans that will be taking up arms to fight the alien threat.
The brief video also appears to show a bit of either John-117 or some other Spartan’s origins, since a young child is briefly seen at around the same time Dr. Catherine Halsey’s (Natascha McElhone) role is being discussed by UNSC forces. As with previous footage, theHaloTV series continues to be a bit divisive among fans who aren’t convinced by the initial tone, setting and characters being developed.
This reveal comes on the back of the first wave of reviews for theHaloseries’ first two episodes coming out, with the overwhelming sentiment appearing to be that the live action Master Chief is an acceptable but ultimately disappointing adaptation of the video game franchise. Considering the fascination many prominent directors have had withHaloover the years, it’s understandable for fans to feel let down if that’s the case, though Paramount has already renewed Halo for a second season nonetheless.
Any struggles the TV series faces might mirror those of its video game counterpart, sinceHalo Infinitehas also been starving for content, as well asdealing with persistent online play issues. Most prominently the absence of a co-op campaign mode will have many seeingHalo Infiniteseason 2 as a less significantupdate than it should have been.
Halothe TV series is set to premiere on Paramount Plus on July 22, 2025.
