For all its seriousness,Hitman 3isn’t afraid of having a cheeky joke or two included every so often if it makes sense in a given context. Agent 47 is, after all, a surprisingly witty character with stellar comedic timing when the opportunity shows, and developer IO Interactive peppers such moments across most of the game’s levels.

The latest addition toHitman 3’s list of fun dialogue tidbits and level interactions is a veritableMonkey IslandEaster egg, in fact, and fans of both franchises are bound to have some fun with it. Namely, not only are there multiple levels to this Easter egg, but it also comes with a few special goodies that Agent 47 can make use of in his travels across Ambrose Island.

Thepirate themed Ambrose Island level inHitman 3has been out for just under a week at the time of writing, and players are already scouring every square inch of the new map in search of Easter eggs and the like. The biggest of these findings so far is, without a doubt, the grave of Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty Pirate - the protagonist of the legendaryMonkey Islandseries of adventure games. While this is a fun little nod for IO Interactive to make, the team went a step further still with a special set of goodies for players to pursue.

In what looks to be a reference to the upcomingReturn to Monkey Islandseries finale, players can get a few Dubloons and a unique saber from Guybrush Threepwood’s Ambrose Island gravesite. To do so, Agent 47 needs to find a torch and light four special braziers strewn across the level. Then, he can grab a shovel and dig up a chest at Threepwood’s grave which will contain said items. The so-called “Jarl’s Pirate Saber” should prove efficient at dispatching other pirates, if nothing else.

The Ambrose Island level is one of two major content releases slated forHitman 3in 2022. Moreover, its release serves as a solid stop-gap for the community now thatHitman 3’s roguelite Freelancer Mode got postponed. Freelancer will take Agent 47 across all the levels currently available as part of the newHitmantrilogy, including Ambrose Island, giving all of the base game’s content a new lease on life.

Meanwhile, players surprised by just how weird this franchise can sometimes get may wish to look intolearning ’s Agent 47. While the man may look like the very personification of death at a glance, he’s been known to ride dolphins, crack jokes (alongside necks), and dress up as a clown should the situation call for it. It’s not that big of a big surprise, then, to see him come across Threepwood’s final resting place.

Hitman 3is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
