More news on the upcoming second season of Satoshi Wagahara’sThe Devil is a Part-Timer!light novel series is coming December 12th, the anime’s official Twitter account announced on Wednesday.

The announcement will bemade via livestreamduring the Dengeki Bunko Winter Festival Online 2021 event and will happen at 8:50 PM JST. Voice actors Ryota Ohsaka and Yoko Hikasa, who voice series protagonists Sado Mao and Emi Yusa respectively, will appear on stream.

The anime’s second season was announced in March 2021, during the inaugural Kadokawa Light Novel Expo. The main cast will be reprising their roles, though nothing regarding the anime’s staff has been announced.

Wagahara’s light novel ran from 2011 to 2020 in ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Bunko imprint, spanning 27 collected volumes. The series follows a Demon King who, after being defeated in his world,escapes to modern-day Tokyoalongside his general. Pursued by the hero Emilia, the trio find themselves stranded in Japan and working menial jobs, and trying to make ends meet. The light novel’s popularity would inspire an ongoing manga illustrated by Akio Hiiragi as well as two spin-off manga.

The first,The Devil Is a Part-Timer! High School!, ran from 2012 to 2015. The manga was serialized in the Dengeki Maoh imprint and illustrated by Kurone Mishima, who is best known for her work on theKonoSubalight novel series. The second spin-off, Hataraku Maō-sama no Meshi!, adapts one of the light novel’s spin-off volumes and is illustrated by Oji Sado.

The anime aired in 2013 during the Spring season and ran for 13 episodes. The series was produced by studio White Fox,best known for theSteins;Gate, andRe:Zeroanime adaptations. Funimation streamed the anime as it aired and released the series on home video a year later.

Yen Press publishes the light novel series in English and will release the final volume in February 2022. The publisher also distributes the manga adaptation alongside theThe Devil Is a Part-Timer! High School!spin-off.
