Early indications showOutridershad a very successful launch, despite the first several days since the game’s launch seeing intermittent server issues that would leave players unable to access the game for brief or extended periods of time. For some games, launch issues have led to player retention problems. ForOutriders, however, its numbers appear to be growing. Despite Sundays usually dipping in player totals compared to Saturdays,Outridershas reached a new high in concurrent players on Steam.

Saturday’sSteam concurrent player count forOutriderswas already impressive. The newly launched game crossed over 100,000 players by 9:00 a.m. PT. However, a server outage hit, dropping concurrent players to nearly 30,000. Once servers were restored, the game saw a resurgence, crossing 116,000 concurrent players after 2:00 p.m. PT. By 9:00 a.m. PT Sunday morning,Outriderswas ahead of Saturday’s normal by around 2,000 people, and at its peak, after 1:00 p.m. PT,Outriderscrossed 125,000 concurrent players.

It’s reasonable to assume thatSaturday’s server outageimpacted the game’s concurrent player count for the day. While the numbers still ultimately peaked on Saturday around 116,000 players, it very likely could have climbed 5,000 or more players higher if they hadn’t quit when servers went down. Those players seem to have returned Sunday morning, and even the officialOutridersTwitter account acknowledged Sunday’s impressive numbers.

A message posted today says, “Servers today are looking… fine?” followed by, “And we’re at our highest concurrent player-peak to date?” Clearly,Outriders' developerPeople Can Flyis also excited about how things have worked out Sunday. With server issues across the past several days during peak hours, the game’s developers have very likely been crunching to fix any ongoing issues. Sunday’s concurrent player totals show their work is paying off.

All ofOutriders’issueshaven’t been fixed, of course. Following that tweet about concurrent players, the official account gave fans instructions on how to fix several persisting problems inOutriders. For example, players have been stuck onOutriders'“Signing In” loading screen, and sometimes lobbies can still lock up too.

What’s going to be exciting to watch is howOutriders' numbers progress over the next week.Valheim, for example, took nearly three weeks to reach its peak concurrent player count due to word of mouth helping the game grow. It’s possible thatOutriders, if its servers remain stable, could continue to grow its playerbase over the next few weeks too.

Outridersis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
