In a thread on theOverwatch 2Reddit, fan and player AirChaggOne started a discussion about how these voice lines should be a permanent addition to the game. They would personally drop a lot of real money on them, and would absolutely love to randomly encounter the lines during matches. Though the subject is a humorous one, they were entirely serious, and think Blizzard could print money by adding these voice lines to the shop andkeeping this part of April Fools' Day inOverwatch 2all year round.
There are obviously a few problems that could arise with adding thesevoice lines toOverwatch 2permanently. The audio cues for each hero’s ultimate are a big way players on both teams can react to the changing battlefield, and a single hero having different voice lines for their ults could create confusion and unfair advantages. However, fans in the thread pointed out there is precedent for unique ultimate lines on some skins, such as Dr. Junkenstein Junkrat, who says a different thing when using his RIP-Tire–a fact that has vexed players in both Ranked and Quick Play.
Some players suggested adding an option to allow unique sounds as a toggleable option for players, which could be good improvement for Mythic and LegendaryOverwatch 2skins with special sounds like Medusa Widowmakerand Cardboard Reinhardt. Unfortunately, it is unlikelyOverwatch 2will ever make these voice lines available outside of April Fools’ Day, so players will have to stick to watching compilations of the hilarious lines while they wait for the next run of the joke holiday.
