AnOverwatchLeague team may have leaked theOverwatch 2release date on Twitter. Blizzard Entertainment announcedOverwatch 2at BlizzCon 2019and confirmed some features about the game, but it has yet to officially announce when the game will be available.
On Twitter,OverwatchLeague team Vancouver Titans said that “Overwatch 2is coming out this year” and asked its followers what about the game they are most excited for. The tweet, which has now been deleted, seems to confirm that theOverwatch 2release date is 2020, and while Blizzard hasn’t confirmed that the game will be out this year, it is believable that a professionalOverwatchteam in a league that is run by the developer would know when the game is going to be released.

A tweet by an official PlayStation Twitter account also confirmed thatOverwatch 2will be out this year. That tweet, which was also deleted, linked to an interview done with Blizzard, but the release date wasn’t confirmed in the interview. This prompted some fans to wonder whether the PlayStation Twitter account had gotten things wrong and was just guessing theOverwatch 2release date, and it is possible that Vancouver Titans has done the same here.
IfOverwatch 2is releasing this year, Blizzard doesn’t have long to announce more features for the game, but because the new game is so much like the firstOverwatchit may not need to. One of the biggest reasons for fans to buyOverwatch 2appear to be its new game modes, and that may be enough for fans that have been enjoyingOverwatch’s gameplay since 2016.
What’s unclear is when Blizzard will make an official announcement about the game’s release date. Fans will also be wanting to know which consolesOverwatch 2will be available on. IfOverwatch 2will be a PS5 and Xbox Series X launch game, a release date announcement could be part ofSony’s rumored PS5 event. However, Microsoft is planning a big event for E3 2020, which Sony won’t be attending, and Blizzard could potentially use that to reveal newOverwatch 2details. Blizzard may want to announce something soon, though, or a Twitter account could just leak everything that it’s planning.
Overwatch 2is currently scheduled to release on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
